Windows 10: New laptop, create a PIN stopping me from logging in

I recently bought a new laptop, set it all up, transferred all my files onto it, then updated it.


After the update, I tried to log back into my laptop. I was able to log into my microsoft account, but a ‘create a PIN’ prompt kept popping up.

I tried to create a PIN but there was always an error message. When I tried to skip this step, it would take me to the log in page.


I couldn’t uninstall the update to a previous time, and I’ve tried resetting my laptop but keeping my files.


I was on the phone to Microsoft all day today, and have made absolutely ZERO progress.


I really need some help!

To resolve your concern about creating pin to your computer, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Navigate to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC (click to get permission when prompted).
• Delete the contents of that folder (delete everything in that folder, but leave that folder and everything above it).
• Go back to settings, accounts, sign in options.
• Your non-working pin will now be gone, and you can just click 'add a pin' and set it again.

Try the steps here:

• Navigate to PC Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in options. Click on I forgot my PIN link.
• Next, click on the Continue button in the Are you sure you forgot your PIN? screen.
• You can now add a new PIN and click OK.

 

Need help . Unable to create a new PIN after someone hacked into my laptop running on Windows 10 and changed the windows PIN.
