I just got a new Asus vivobook laptop Windows 10, shockingly the ping is far worse than my old laptop. Pinging google.com gives 100+ ms while my old one, as it has for YEARS returns 10-11ms. This is the same network at the same time. In device manager, the realtek 8822ce wireless lan 802.11ac pci-e nic driver was last updated on 13/08/2020. On the manufacturer website here: TM420UA - Support it has a networking driver that seems newer. But its an exe file not inf. If I run it, it just makes a DRIVERS folder in C drive and puts files in there. But I cant select it in driver update, theres no inf file in it.

    :)

    Old Drivers

It is generally NOT important to replace old drivers.

Generally, you should only install a new driver if

    1. You know that the new driver will fix a specific problem you're having with the old driver

      OR
    2. You know that the new driver will add a feature or functionality that you need (or want) to have.

In order of preference, you should get drivers from

    1. Your computer's manufacturer (especially important for laptops)
    2. The manufacturer of the specific hardware item
    3. Windows Update (as a last resort, if 1 and 2 aren't available)

And you should uninstall whatever program is causing those "messages."

    Hi Emile,

I suggest you to Update the network adapter driver and see if it helps to resolve the issue..

An outdated or incompatible network adapter driver can cause connection problems. If you recently upgraded to
Windows 10, it's possible that the current driver was designed for a previous version of Windows. Check to see if an updated driver is available.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select
Device Manager from the list of results.
    • In Device Manager, select Network adapters > the network adapter name.
    • Right-click (or press and hold) the network adapter, and then select
      Update Driver Software
      > Search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the steps, then select
      Close.
    • After installing the updated driver, select the Start button >
Power > Restart if asked to restart, and see if that fixes the connection issue.
If Windows can’t find a new driver for your network adapter, visit the PC manufacturer’s website and download the latest network adapter driver from there. If your PC can't connect to the Internet, you'll need to download a driver on a different PC and save
it to a USB flash drive, so you can install the driver on your PC. You’ll need to know the PC manufacturer and model name or number.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    High Ping on new laptop

OK so I just got a new Lenovo ideapad 300 for my birthday and I've been having ping spikes going up to 15 000ms while playing lol. On my 5 year old acer piece of **** laptop I still get around the normal 180ms so there is not a problem with my network...
The acer has windows 7 and the lenovo has windows 10 so I dont know if this might be the problem? I've searched everywhere online but it seems that there is no hope... The laptop is still brand new, bought on 19th of August 2016 and the acer is about 5 years
old but no ping spikes. Please help
