New Laptop, my 11 yr old grandson is accidentally the Administrator, how to start over?!

My old laptop died a sudden death, after a wait today my new HP laptop arrived, but apparently my grandson set up an MS account in order to play Minecraft a year or more ago.

When I went through the Set up for new laptop it picked up his Outlook email address and his name and applied it to my newly set up laptop.

He is 11 and has NO idea what his password is, I managed to get myself in as an alternate account, but he is the Admin and I can't do some things without his approval and, that's of course, impossible. My documents, my dropbox, etc. all fall under his USER/Kenny ID.
Since my cell phone number is the ID phone for his account, I at least was able to change the PIN and get logged in.

Do I have to strip the entire set up I got going and start over?
It's made a new PC not a fun experience and since I'm home "self-isolating" with my husband I'm frustrated even more since I was going to spend a day or two getting everything set up and installed.

    Suggestions are welcome!

    :)

    help for grandson's laptop

no. I don't think he ever set one up. I was told by hp that Microsoft will set up a new one for $50. That was upsetting because the laptop belongs to my 12 year old grandson. We should be able to get into it. I can prove I bought it as well. There is a lag
time because the screen on the laptop doesn't work. I can't see it when it asks if it should start up in safe mode.

    Thanks ,

    Nancy

  3. Internet Explorer 11 Synced Very Old Favorites ( 5 Yrs. ago items )

    Hi People,

I were troubleshooting IE11 in my end user's PC. Issue is after resetting IE11, added Favorites bar.

In that Favorites bar, IE11 synced very old Favorites that includes 5 yrs of favorites. Due to this more than 1000 of Favs mingled with recent ones.

Please suggest me troubleshooting steps to follow.

    Thanks.

New Laptop, my 11 yr old grandson is accidentally the Administrator, how to start over?!

    old laptop

Hi I was able to upgrade to the new 1709 windows with yr help the weekend.

Can I ask when a new hard drive is put in, and you dont have a copy of the old windows it came preloaded with, or product key, how is the windows called back, is it on your Microsoft account or the laptop serial number. I have an old Acer Aspire 5750G i7
with g force graphics, I was thinking of resurrecting it for my grandson. Will it make any difference if since discarding my old laptop I have changed my microsoft account threw my old one, I was receiving obscene emails and a lot of junk mail.

Is there anyway at all I'm able to load it back with win 7 or do I go and buy a new win 10 program from Currys, and if I do will it come with a cd or usb to load it on, or do I call it a day,

PS I do have a media copy of the upgrade for my other laptop, could I use this and buy a new activation key. Thnx in advance
