Windows 10: new laptop setup copied all my old data when I didn't want it to.

I purchased a new laptop for my daughter. Microsoft made me log in to my account to start the darned thing. I selected the option of "create new device" but it copied all of my desktop items, bookmarks, etc. that I did not want it to do. How do I delete them from her laptop without losing them on mine?

Moving data from old laptop to new

Ok, so i have an old laptop that's hhd was infected with a virus that screwed windows up. I have some data on the thing that i need to pull off and put onto my new laptops hhd. So what is the safest and easiest way to get the data from old laptop to new laptop?

 

My Asus laptop didn`t accept the password, Microsoft asked to change it

Today my Asus laptop didn`t accept the usual password I have been using for years. A note asked me to reset Microsoft password and after that, using this new password, I was able to start my computer.

Anybody knows why did this happen? Since when Microsoft is controlling my personal computer in such a way that I can`t even open if they don`t want to?

Moving my SSD from my old laptop to my new one

Hi Alex

Your new laptop the NVME drive will be set as the boot device, so you can connect that old SSD to the laptop and that will not interfere with the new Windows setup, you can certainly use that as a data drive on the new laptop

Ideally when you connect that to the new drive, you should copy your data off that drive temporarily, format the drive and then copy your data back onto it, otherwise it is very hard to remove the old Windows from that drive . . .
