Windows 10: New laptop will not recognize my imogega Ego external hard drive

I need my external hard drive recognized by my Dell laptop. What do I do , the last laptop I had, all I had to do was plug it in the pc.?

Hello @Balkogirl and welcome to TF,
Did you try different USB ports - try both USB 2 and USB 3 (blue) if you have both types.

If it has an external power supply, make sure that is connected.

Try it with a different computer if possible to make sure it still works.

Go to Device Manager and make sure there are no errors or devices with issues showing under Disk Drives, Portable Devices or USB.

I understand that the external hard drive is not recognized by the PC. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.
It would be great if you can answer these questions to assist you in a better way.

• Did you try connecting the Hardrive to different USB Port?
  
• Does the Hardrive get detected if you try connecting it to a different PC?
  
• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  

I suggest you refer and follow the steps mentioned in the KB article and check if that resolves the issueError:
“USB Device not recognized” when you try to access a USB external hard drive

Note: Ignore method 2 & 5 from the above article.
