Windows 10: new laptop, windows 11, 2 monitors via KVM switch, 2nd monitor not detected

I purchased a new laptop and the 2nd monitor is not being detected. I have an LG monitor and an ACER monitor and have determined that it is not related to the monitor, but the cable. -using old laptop, windows 10, connected to LG and ACER with hdmi to hdmi and hdmi to hdmi to USB = works.New laptop troubleshooting:-cable from HDMI to HDMI works. -cable from HDMI to HDMI to USB does not work.-cable from HDMI to HDMI to USB-C does not work. ----- HDMI/USB-C adapter is used with my work laptop, Windows 10, which works.This is what transpired switching cables------ cable with adapte

Monitor not detected (when via KVM)

I have an HDMI KVM 2*1 Switch (DC powered)
I connect my PC to one port and it switches through to monitor fine.
Mouse & keyboard via USB work fine.
I have tested on both port PC1 and PC2 to make sure OK.

I then connect my new Laptop (Dell Latitude 7390)
Mouse & keyboard work to it fine, but no video feed to monitor.
If I connect Laptop direct to monitor it works fine, so I have been able to prove all cables are good, and Laptop HDMI socket.

If I go to settings on Laptop …. It does not detect a monitor when connected to the KVM.
If I plug direct into monitor it works (and is detected)

This is the same on PC1 or PC2.

My PC works fine to either port ….. assumption is something is blocking Dell laptop from seeing monitor connected.

I have 2 identical KVM switches …both proven OK .. both have same issue with this Dell laptop
Assume it's related to EDID pass through on KVM ..... but strange other PC/Laptop work OK

 

HP pavillion laptop not detecting 2nd monitor with Windows 11 pro

I purchased a new HP Pavillion laptop with Windows 11 Pro and a new Acer monitor to connect to laptop. Laptop isn't detecting 2nd monitor via HDMI. I would appreciate any help you could provide.

Windows 10 issue with multiple monitors and KVM

I have a personal laptop and a work laptop. I use the built in LCD screens on the laptops as the main screen for each.

I also have an external monitor that I share between the two laptops with a KVM switch. So, whichever computer is selected by the KVM has the external monitor as a secondary display.

However, when I switch the external monitor from my personal laptop to the work laptop, everything that was being displayed on the external screen for the personal laptop is transferred to the main screen of the personal laptop. This means that when I switch
back to the personal laptop I have to move the programs I want displayed on the external monitor back to the external monitor. Is there some setting that I can change so that when I switch from the personal laptop to the work laptop it doesn't move the programs
displayed on the extended monitor back to the main display?

I also noticed when I click the KVM to switch over, the extended monitor disappears from the displays list. The only option for now is to click the button behind the monitor to switch between displays which can be troublesome.
