    New laptop Windows 11 SE - can't install anything - possibly S-mode but no S-mode fix works


    We purchased a Acer laptop which runs Windows 11 SE, Version 21H2, Build 22000.2538.If we try and install anything like Google Chrome browser we get an error saying: "This app won't run on your PCC:\Users\miked\Downloads\ChromeSetup.exe Contact your support person for more info."Everything i've read suggests our laptop is stuck in S-Mode. Everything we've read also suggests this can be disabled via the Microsoft Store, however, the laptop doesn't have the Microsoft store installed and won't allow the installation.     As topic, Is Windows 11 S mode and Windows 11 SE are the same thing?

    e.g like Win11 Pro in S mode is the same as Win11 SE?

    AFAIK, not the same thing.

    Windows 11 SE is a cloud-first edition of Windows 11. It is mainly focused on students.

    Windows 11 in S mode is for streamlined for security and performance. It is more focused on secure OS and allows apps from only Microsoft Store.
