    New Media Player Library Keeps Corrupting After Building


    The Media Player that replaced Groove is unusable for me. Prior to KB5010414 Groove worked flawlessly. On the other hand, the "classic" WMP library would keep crashing/corrupting when trying to initially build it large library. Eventually after baby sitting and cleaning WMP libraries multiple times and many crashes it would eventually work and stabilize. However, the new Groove replacement - Media Player - is even worse than the classic Window Media Player for large libraries. It builds the library, and when you try to play music and go to artist or album, no music is found. I've been trying

  2. Building up a library on Windows Media Player

    Hi Jorge,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I suggest you to rebuild the Media Library on your computer and check for the issue.

    Follow the below provided steps.

    • Shutdown Windows Media Player.
    • Stop the media sharing service. Go to Start>Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Administrative Tools>Services.
    • Right-click on the “Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service” and select
      Stop.
    • Navigate to “c:\Users\”your username”\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player. Now delete the files named
      CurrentDatabase_***.wmdb and LocalMLS_*.wmdb.
    • Start the media sharing service.
    • Now start Windows Media Player and watch it build up your library again.

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    The error ‘Media library is corrupt’ occurs when the Windows Media Player library database has become corrupted.

    To resolve this problem, clear the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:


    • Press Windows key + R, click
      Run
      , type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click
      OK.

    • Select all the files in the folder, and then click
      Delete on the File menu.

    Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

    Restart Windows Media Player.

    If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:


    • Press Windows key + R, click
      Run
      , type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click
      OK
      .

    • Select the Media Player folder, and then click
      Delete on the File menu.

    • Restart Windows Media Player.

    Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    If your computer is having problems accessing your collection of digital media files in the
    Windows Media Player Library, try using the Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter to fix the problem. The troubleshooter makes sure
    Windows Media Player is correctly installed on your computer, and checks to see whether your Player Library is corrupted. Follow the steps:

    • Press Windows key + W and type
      troubleshooting.
    • Select troubleshooting.
    • Select View all on the top left corner.
    • Run Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter.
    You may also rebuild the Windows Media Player database after the troubleshooting.

    • Tap or press Windows Key + R, type
      %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft and then click OK.
    • Select theMedia Player folder, and then right click to
      delete the folder.
    • Restart Windows Media Player.


    Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
