Windows 10: New Microsoft Sudoku

When opening the new version of Microsoft Sudoku I get the pop up box stating that "August is over, click to continue". This resets the daily challenge to zero and so all challenges already done disappear and my score returns to zero. Also all my settings revert to the default. This happens at least 4 times every month. How can I stop it happening? this has been going on ever since the new version was introduced.

There are many possible reasons why you are experiencing issues with Microsoft Sudoku Daily Challenges. It is possible that the app needs an update or an error with the in-game server. To properly isolate your concern, please provide us the following information:

• Did the issue start after an update?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far to resolve the issue?
• Does the same issue occur on your other apps?

In the meantime, we suggest that you install all the critical and important Windows Updates on your PC by following the steps on this

Microsoft keeps "locking" all discussions about the new version of Sudoku.

You can go back and get the old version and it will have all your game history.

My response is in some of the old locked discussions. This one will get locked soon.

I will try again … also, I am adding a way to stop the new version from being downloaded automatically. Read all the items below before you begin.

First ... uninstall Microsoft Sudoku from your Win10 PC computer

Google: "Microsoft Sudoku Version 1.7.10910.0"

There are many returns … find the Malavida site … be careful when you selected the Sudoku download … there are other things there … do not download the other items.

Be very careful to download ONLY the Sudoku listed above … do not "run" … rather "save" the download. It will remain in your downloads folder and you can use it again if needed.

Go to the saved download (mine says: MicrosoftSudoku_2018.1106.43.5550.AppxBundle)

I double click the file to run it. Follow instructions to install the old Sudoku.

It should now be in your apps collection.

One more very important thing … after you check to see if it is indeed your old Sudoku with all your old games … you need to make sure it does not "update" automatically to the new version.

Go to the Microsoft Store … on mine there are three dots … (…) in the upper right top. Click and select "Setting" and select "Off" for automatic updates. You may need to check for updates from time to time but it is worth it not to
get the new Sudoku back!

  What do you mean by “I selected to install and I am the owner”?

  Can you see MS Sudoku icon in the menu?
  
• 
  Is there any other programs or applications causing the same issue?
  
• 
  Have you completed installing MS Sudoku? Was it successful?
  

I suggest you to download MS Sudoku from the Windows Store and check if it works.
