  1. New MS account password does not work to start my laptop

I have a Y50-70 Laptop Lenovo, with WINDOWS 8. I forgot my Microsoft account password, so I couldn't log in to my laptop. I reset my Microsoft account password on my phone. When I entered the new password, it did not work. I repeated this many times, with the internet access working and I am sure that there

  2. new email password not working in account settings.

Hi stuartmushlin. Welcome to the TenForums @stuartmushlin

When you say generate I immediately think of two step verification and the need to have account "Generate" an app password.

Do you know if your account is using Two Step verification?

In any event if you sign into your account using a browser, then head to security, other security options you should find a section for app passwords.

This is the only password generator I know of where MS generates a password to be used for sign in.

  3. LarryRFL Win User
New User Account, Password not working

I needed to create a new user account to replace the one I was using. I created the account with a temp password, copied over all the files, everything was working great. Then I went to change the password. I went into manage users and changed my password.
I changed it to the MS password. Then I noticed that it still said Local Account - do you want to connect to MS account. I said yes, entered my email, entered my MS password, and the current user password (which was the same as the MS password). Then I clicked
next and it just sat there saying waiting...

After awhile I gave up and decided to search for answers when I opened settings again, and went to user accounts, and suddenly it was changed to my MS account with my email. So even though it had said "waiting," it looked like it must have completed the process.
I then signed out and tried to sign back in again. I entered my password and it just says "Welcome" and will not log me in. I shut down, restarted, same thing.

There is a TempAdmin account I had created for the changeover which was still there, so I logged into it and tried to change the password from that user, but it did not have that option since it is the MS password now, not a local password.

Bottom line: I created a new user account, created a local password, logged in, changed it to the MS password, and now I cannot log in.

UPDATE: Since I posted this I tried:

    1) Logged into another user and started Credential Manager service (it was off) and changed it to automatic - no change.

    2) Logged into another user and disabled Credential Manager service - no change.

    3) Did both of the above with ethernet plugged in and not plugged in. When it was NOT plugged in, I got a message saying that I need to be connected to the internet the first time I log on.

    4) Clicked "I forgot my password." I created a new Microsoft password. It was successfully created. The new password does work on my other computers. Then when I used it to log on to the new user I got "Just a moment..." for a long time. Finally, a notice said,
"You can't sign in to your device right now. Go to account.live.com to fix the problem, or try the last password you used on this device." After searching about that error, one suggestion was to try using the onscreen keyboard to sign in. I tried that and
    that did not work either.

    5) I went to account.live.com and clicked "When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account." All the suggestions either don't apply or I tried them already.

    6) I signed in to the temp admin account to change the password. The new user account and username ARE listed under accounts in Settings. They are also listed under accounts in Control Panel. It also shows up under Users in file explorer. I changed the password
for the new user in cmd and went back to log in but the same thing happened -- it just sits there saying "Welcome" and never logs in.

    7) I tried to repair Windows using DISM but it showed no errors. I also tried SFC and it showed no errors.

    8) I decided to try and repair or reinstall Windows. I went to Windows download to use the Media Creation Tool and I downloaded the ISO. It runs and then I get an error that it cannot be used. I tried repairing, installing, every option listed. So I can't run
a repair from the Windows ISO and I can't reinstall Windows.

  4. New MS account password does not work to start my laptop

    Microsoft Account Password

I'm drowning in passwords starting with Microsoft. I have two laptops and a tablet. Each has a different password. Can I setup the MS account to have the same password applicable to all three if my Windows 10 devices only. I want this for home use and
not on public pc's. Can anyone suggest a web page with step by step Instructions. I don't need it to share bookmarks, desktop pictures, fonts, etc.
