Windows 10: New PC activated with company key

I bought a new pc with windows preinstalled. After some months it started showing license about to expire. I was told it was activated by a company key. I just learned Windows no longer sell licenses for windows 10, besides my payment method was declined. How do I get a new license?

This error code is usually caused by a problem with the product key. For better assistance, we would like to clarify how you got the Windows 10 Pro? Is it supplied by a company?

As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest that you run the Activation troubleshooter and try activating Windows 10 Pro again. To run the Activation troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• Click the Start button and select the Settings
  icon.
• Choose Update & Security from the list.
• Select Activation in the left pane of the window.
• Click Troubleshoot.

If your Windows 10 Pro is supplied by a company, we recommend that you get in touch with your organization's support for assistance with the activation.

Windows 10 Activation Error (Transferring W10 Key to new PC)

Hi,

I appreciate the reply but this did not work for me. The article seems to be more directed to helping people upgrade from Home to Pro but i'm just trying to reactivate my old Home licence to this PC. Either way, it did not work, while disconnected from the
internet I did the steps listed and after putting in my key at the end I just get the message:

We can't activate Windows on this device because our activation servers aren't available a the moment. Make sure that youre connected to the internet and we'll automatically try to activate windows when the service becomes available . Error code: 0x80072EE7

I'm just not sure why my key works but doesn't activate, it was working just fine on the other PC with the exact same version of windows 10 home, and as noted in my previous posts the steps to unlink and link the key to a new PC worked fine, it did say it successfully
installed. Just seems to not want to activate because it thinks its invalid.

Transferring a Windows 10 Product Key to a new computer

You cannot use OEM key to activate other devices. But I have seen cases where in it will activate.

You will have to follow below steps to activate on new device:

Open cmd as admin (on new computer)

Slmgr -upk (enter)

Slmgr -cpky

Slmgr -rilc

Slmgr -ipk XXXXX-XXXX-..... (your pk key)

Slmgr -ato

This should activate on new device. Before purchasing a key I'll suggest you try above steps because I have done in the past and it had worked.
