    New build, on a budget

I had a look at the motherboard manual. If you install a M2 x4 PCIe drive (not SATA) you will lose the PCIe X4 lane, meaning that your PCIe X4 connector will not work.

This is usually not a problem, unless you were planning on using three graphics cards. As for losing your SATA ports, have a looksie at the following table for a discussion on how the SATA ports work with the M2 drive connectors:

It looks like the best thing that you can do is use an M2 in PCIe mode in the M2H_32G slot, not SATA. This will mean the loss of a PCIe connector, but who uses the X4 connector anyway? I think you've picked a solid motherboard here. If you choose the right M2 drive and configure it properly, you should get amazing performance out of it. If I may suggest a good drive, try the Samsung 980 Plus. It's a PCIe X4 drive and they just scream performance. Mine is blisteringly fast. Anyway, enjoy the new PC. *Smile

  3. Out of the game - New Build

You'd be better off just giving us a budget and let us come up with a few builds to choose from. Without knowing a budget, something like this is what I would suggest looking at-

    New Gaming Build

    Hey all,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC as it's getting fairly old now and showing its age. Would you be able to provide me with some feedback on the below build.

    I'm using a 1.5k budget.

    http://www.ebuyer.com/lists/list/465145

The GPU isn't listed, but I will be using a GTX 970 and I also have a Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB mainly for my OS. (SSD was added recently to my current rig).

    All feedback / suggestions welcome.

    Many thanks,
