  1. New pc gets BSOD

    Plea of help:

Hello. I built my first PC after dreaming about it for so long. But of course, with my luck, it gets blue screens at random intervals. For the last week or more I've relentlessly tried to fix this problem, but to no avail sadly. I have reached a point where every single article, blog post or message board gives the exact same advice that I've tried many times. Everyone keep yelling at me to just give it to a technician, but I feel like I'd give away free money to a guy who will find what I can aswell on the internet. I am in extreme despair and I ask very kindly for you to help me.

    Specs:

    Mobo - Asrock z390m pro4 Cpu - i5 9600k (noctua nh-l9i) Ram - ddr4 8gb 3200mhz (x2) Gpu - nvidia gtx 1050ti Ssd - adata 512gb su750 Hdd - currently in rma because it came broken Psu - bequiet! 400w 80+gold

    The error:

As I mentioned, the error has no specific intervals, neither things that cause it (as far as I've noticed). Before it dies I noticed in task manager that disk usage spikes to 100% but no program is causing that. It shows : UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION (right now most of the time), CRITICAL PROCCESS DIED, KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR, SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION (I haven't seen these in a while but maybe they help)

It doesn't create a dump file, probably because it never loads after the bsod ("0% recovered data"), so I have to shut the pc down manually.

The event viewer shows every critical error as : "Kernel power 41" (70368744177664),(2). This is one of the different properties (if needed I can send more examples) :

Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power Date: 11/30/2020 12:35:58 AM Event ID: 41 Task Category: (63) Level: Critical Keywords: (70368744177664),(2) User: SYSTEM Computer: DESKTOP-30NMUNL Description: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. Troubleshooting:

I've tried virtually everything in my opinion. Ram, cpu, gpu tests were all passed. I've reinstalled windows 3 times and installed every driver extremely carefully. I did everything the basic blogs told me like chkdsk or sfc scan which showed nothing wrong. Bios is updated and set to default ( I've tried changing it to 2666 to comply with the cpu but nothing changes)

    Conclusion:

I am willing to try anything. I will gladly rerun tests and try new suggestions. If you're an amazing person who wishes to help and needs more info I will gladly comply.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your time.

PC reboots (no BSOD) on CPU stress

    Hi fellow TPU members,

not too long ago, the box my gf's PC was transported in gave way on the stairs. Yes, you got it right, that sent a PC tumbling down a flight of steps alright.

Stuff broke. Also, stuff remained intact somehow.

I bought her a new case, new CPU cooler and we removed the floppy drive, so far so good. But the PC started crashing for no apparent reason, without a BSOD.

    I tested:
    • Memtest86+, left overnight, 0 errors
    • Scanned the HDD for errors, nothing there
    • Left FurMark burning up the GFX card and drawing some power, no problems there
    • Ran Ubuntu from a Live CD doing nothing special, didn't crash
    • Ran OCCT, Linpack, Prime95, all 3 caused reboots within minutes
    • Oh, and I disabled "Restart on error" so I'm sure it's not a BSOD.
Now, I can still try and test something CPU intensive on Ubuntu, but my guess is the CPU didn't survive.
Before I do anything drastic like whippin' out the magic wallet and get her a new AMD quad, is there anything I didn't see?
I'm guessing the motherboard could be borkered as well, but can I check that other than replacing the CPU with a working one?
Any suggestions on which proggies I can use from an Ubuntu Live CD to stress the CPU?

  3. BSOD help with new PC

    Hi,

My new PC (Win 10) has a BSOD every few minutes with a DPC Watchdog violation.

I've followed a number of the typical debug steps:

    • Updated drivers inc. chipset and graphics
    • In device manager checked IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, the driver is storahci.sys and I've tried to updated using the Standard SATA AHCI Controller on my PC
    • No external devices are attached
    • removed AV
    • Disabled Sound drivers in device manager

Still the problems are occurring frequently. I have a minidmp file here: 012718-5515-01.dmp

and there is also a 700MB memory.dmp that I can share if it is helpful?

Grateful for any advice that anyone can share. Thanks in advance.

    Brand new PC BSoD

    Hi,

Corrupted drivers and system files are one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We'd like to get additional information to help resolve the issue. Kindly answer the following questions below:

    • What is the stop error code showing on the screen whenever you experience BSoD? (e.g.: 0x0000000A, 0x0000003B, and 0x000000EF)
    • Did you installed any third-party applications on your new computer before the issue started?
    • Is there a specific action you're doing on the computer that triggers BSoD?
In the meantime, we suggest performing the possible solutions in this
    article
to help resolve blue screen errors.

We'll keep an eye out for your response.
