Windows 10: New pc, I can hear things on 2 different headphones but no sound is being picked up by the mics

I just got this new computer a few days ago, and my headphones wired, mic attached had sound come through right away with no stress. I was able to watch videos. This morning I hadn't tried the mics before then, I tried to call one of my friends, and they couldn't hear me. I went onto a microphone testing website, and nothing could be heard. I thought it might just be the headphones, so I tried pairing my Bluetooth air pods the microphone part works for my phone. Again, I could hear things, but no sound came through. I've been in and out of settings countless times since then, I've tried

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

mic picked up but no sound

hi

just yesterday my mic headset was working perfect. i do not know if my family members messed up anything but there is no sound being picked up even though the mic itself is. i checked if the mic is working by plugging it into a different device and it does
work. so back to the pc i'm having trouble with, when i try recording with the mic, all i hear is static. i tried uninstalling the devices and restarting the pc but that too did not help.

 

microphone picking up strange sounds

i have a dell inspiron 15 5000 laptop and whenever i'm in calls with friends, on skype, discord, ect, they always comment on how annoying the sound coming from my end is. i usually wear headphones when i call with them but it doesn't make a difference.
whether i'm wearing headphones or not, they can still hear the weird sound. the only thing i can think of is the microphone picking up the internal sounds of the laptop? i'm not a huge tech geek so i have no idea what it could be.

also, i think it's strange how it still sounds the same, even when i have headphones in. because the mic on my headphones shouldn't be picking up weird sounds. maybe the mic on my laptop is being used even when i have headphones in and it's picking up
the laptop's internal sounds? if it helps, i have beats solo 3 headphones.
