Windows 10: New PC, Windows activation key not working

I built a new PC, and used the Win 10 upgraded from Win 8 boot disc in the new machine. I entered the activation key and it got rejected, and referred me to a non existent "Troubleshooting" link in the dialog box. Here is proof of purchase of the Win 8 DVD from Amazon from 2015:https://i.ibb.co/cN8vsMS/Screenshot-4.jpg According to Microsoft, a Win 8 upgraded to Win 10 boot disk should work in a new PC build with key. How can I activate Windows I bought and paid for if it is not accepting the key?

Windows 10 Activation Error (Transferring W10 Key to new PC)

I appreciate the reply but this did not work for me. The article seems to be more directed to helping people upgrade from Home to Pro but i'm just trying to reactivate my old Home licence to this PC. Either way, it did not work, while disconnected from the
internet I did the steps listed and after putting in my key at the end I just get the message:

We can't activate Windows on this device because our activation servers aren't available a the moment. Make sure that youre connected to the internet and we'll automatically try to activate windows when the service becomes available . Error code: 0x80072EE7

I'm just not sure why my key works but doesn't activate, it was working just fine on the other PC with the exact same version of windows 10 home, and as noted in my previous posts the steps to unlink and link the key to a new PC worked fine, it did say it successfully
installed. Just seems to not want to activate because it thinks its invalid.

activate windows 7 oem key

There is no difference between the OEM disc and the Retail disc with Windows 7. A retail disc will accept a OEM or Retail key, and vise versa.

If the OEM Key wasn't going to work with the disc you have, it would have stopped you during the install when it first asked you for the key, not during activation.

What is likely the problem is that, since the OEM version has already been activated once, it is failing activation again. Activate it over the phone using the option given to you on the failed activation screen, and you shouldn't have a problem activating it.

 

Windows 8.1 pro + WMC key activation

yeah, just don't forget that MCE gives you a new Windows key.... I had activation errors untill I entered the MCE key....
