  1. New PC with Windows 11 Home not seeing WD Drive on my Home Network,

I have just purchased a new PC with Windows 11 Home. I now cannot see my external WD HDD that is on my home network. I am reading bogs about Group Policy being different and may be preventing access to the drive. What is the fix for this as the ext HDD is my local backup with all my home files on?ThanksKevin

    :)

WD Passport Drive with Windows 10

If the drive is recognized, you should be able to assign it a drive letter using diskpart.
Open an admin powershell prompt (right-click your Windows icon, click
Windows Powershell (Admin) or if you don't see powershell, use
    command prompt (admin) instead).

At the prompt, type diskpart and hit return.

At the diskpart prompt, type list volume and hit return.

Find your WD drive in the list (may be listed as WD drive or may be identifiable by listed size), and note the volume number.
For example, let's say your WD drive is listed as "volume 4".

At the new prompt, type select volume 4 and hit return (or whatever number your WD drive is listed as).
It should say "volume (#) is the selected volume". Now pick any letter not already used in the drive volume list shown in the earlier prompt. For example, let's say G is available.

Next prompt, type assign letter=G and hit return.

Type exit and hit return to exit diskpart.

Type exit and hit return again to exit powershell.

Your WD drive should now show up in file explorer with the new letter you've assigned.

  3. Windows 11 Probling with maping a network drive.

    Hello,

Certainly! Here are the steps to map a network drive using File Explorer in Windows 11:

    1. Open File Explorer:
      • Press Windows key + E on your keyboard to open File Explorer.
    2. Navigate to “This PC”:
      • Click on “This PC” in the left pane.
    3. Access the “Map Network Drive” Option:
      • Click the “More options” (three dots) button in the command bar.
      • Select the “Map network drive” option.
    4. Assign a Drive Letter:
      • Use the “Drive” dropdown menu to select the drive letter you want to assign.
      • In the “Folder” field, enter the network path to the shared folder. Alternatively, click the “Browse” button to select the folder you want to map as a network drive.
      • Click “Finish” to complete the assignment.
    5. Enter Login Credentials:
      • When the mapped network drive opens, enter your login ID and password if prompted.
Following these steps will allow you to map a network drive using File Explorer in Windows 11. Remember to use the IP address instead of the computer name if you can’t connect to the shared folder. Additionally, if the resource-providing device uses a password-less Microsoft account, you’ll need to create a local account to establish the connection, as mapping won’t work otherwise.

If it is helpful, could you please select "Yes" about "Was this reply helpful?".

I hope you will solve the problem. And, if you still have problems, feel free to ask us here.

    Best regards,
