    Hi guys,Quick question, I assembled 3 PCs and installed OEM Windows 10 PRO purchased from Authorized Microsoft Distributor. The problem is when I run ShowKeyPlus software the info of the installed Key is the same on all PCs. NF6HC-QH89W-F8WYV-WWXV4-WFG6PIs this normal? Is the Winows 10 PRO OEM key I bought not official.Please help as these PCs are in my company and I am afraid I am not legal.Thanks,Rui Coutinho

    ShowkeyPlus - generic licence product key?

    I upgraded from win7 to win10.

    I now want to move my system/installation to a new SSD drive. However whilst I have created a Windows 10 media installation disk i have been advised that i still need a licence key once Win10 installed on the new SSD.

    They have suggested using the app ShowKeyPlus. when I ran it, it showed a licence key but there was an asterisk which pointed to a caveat

    'generic key - requires a Digital Licence for activation'.

    Can someone clarify this situation?

    Can I Transfer an OEM Product Key to New PC?


    I built a new PC and want to install windows 8.1. For this I need to buy a product key. I was told that OEM product keys are "married" to the motherboard for life.

    But lets say I install win 8.1 and use an OEM product key yo activate it. And lets say in the future I get rid of the old motherboard and install a new motherboard. Will I be able to transfer the product key to the new motherboard? Or would I need a retail product key to transfer the key to a new PC or motherboard?

    Transferring a Windows 10 Product Key to a new computer

    You cannot use OEM key to activate other devices. But I have seen cases where in it will activate.

    You will have to follow below steps to activate on new device:

    Open cmd as admin (on new computer)

    Slmgr -upk (enter)

    Slmgr -cpky

    Slmgr -rilc

    Slmgr -ipk XXXXX-XXXX-..... (your pk key)

    Slmgr -ato

    This should activate on new device. Before purchasing a key I'll suggest you try above steps because I have done in the past and it had worked.
