Windows 10: New Realtech universal audio driver 11/14/23 allows use of microphone and computer to sleep

Have been unable to use microphone as it causes the computer to fail to sleep. Have tried everything, literally. Realteck just made an update driver available 11/14/23. I installed the new driver, and my computer now sleeps as it should with the microphone installed and left on. Hope this helps someone.

How to fix microphone to allow for automatic sleep?

I have recently built a Windows 11 compliant system used for photo-video editing. It appears that the default setting for a microphone is set to on in Windows 11. (I use a webcam with a built-in microphone, Logitech Pro 9000, during some production work and for conferences via Zoom.) It appears that by default the microphone is always enabled causing an audio stream which prevents the computer from entering the sleep mode. Cortana is set to off as are all other apps that you can control through audio settings. The only way I have found to bypass the microphone is by disabling it. I have deleted and reinstalled the related software and drivers to no avail. All USB ports are set to allow the computer to sleep.

I experienced no problem in Windows 10 with this webcam/microphone, so I am guessing it's a Windows 11 issue. Any suggestions?

 

RealTech Audio issue with skype calling

I have updated the RealTech HD Audio driver to the latest version. I then deleted the RealTech Device from my PC and restarted. I was able to Voice Record from my PC . But when I log into Skype, within a few seconds of a call, my microphone goes mute automatically.
Sometimes when I choose the Call Quality (within Skype) I can choose the RealTech device and the mute shuts off for a few minutes. It then mutes itself within a few seconds. I have the Anniversary Update of Windows 10. Please help me resolve this problem.

When Windows 11 was upgraded to your computer, the drivers also need to be upgraded for devices to work properly on the computer.

The first thing you will want to try is to see if there are any pending updates.

Check for new updates on your computer.

Please type the word update in the search and see if there are any new updates. Update if necessary.

On the same page click on the advanced or additional updates.

Try running the audio troubleshooter. The directions are below.

1. Please type Troubleshoot in the search on the taskbar and open the page.

2. Scroll down the page and click on the run key in audio.

The next step would be to go to the maker of your computer or motherboard's website and download an updated chipset, drivers, and bios. The maker of the computer is responsible for having updated drivers for your computer. It is free of charge to download the drivers.

You want to make sure your computer has permission to use the microphone. The directions are below.

Select Start > Settings > Privacy and Security> Microphone. You may need to scroll down the page to find the Microphone.

In Allow access to the microphone on this device, select Change and make sure Microphone access for this device is turned on.

Then, select the apps that can access your microphone. In Microphone settings, go to Allow apps to access your microphone and make sure it's turned on.

Once you've allowed microphone access to your apps, you can change the settings for each app.
