Windows 10: New Sabrent USB CDROM wont initialize or show in Windows Explorer

Tried all of the messages and and help.


Finally did this:


Go to Command Prompt.

Diskpart

List vol

Choose the volume that shows as nothing vol x for example

sel vol x

assign letter t choose your drive letter that you want

exit


Go to File Explorer

Your new CDROM should display

:)

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Initializing new disk

I am trying to initialize my new 1 terabyte Hard Drive using a Sabrent 2.5" SATA HDD/SDD to USB 3.0 adapter on my mothers computer but I get the following error message when I do "the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error" How can I fix this
or get around this so I can get my new hard drive ready for a windows install

 

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
