Windows 10: New SSD drive, usb with installation media windows 11, usb does not startup.

Hi there,I bought a zbook firefly generation 8, with 512GB SSD, with windows 11-pro. I mechanically swapped the 512GB SSD with a 1TB Western Digital SSD. I also installed Ubuntu 24.04 and left about 250GB unallocated for Windows. Be aware there is no Windows jet on this computer, so windows tools won't do the job.I created a windows installation memory stick with installation media windows 11. I did that muliple times with or without administrator rights on a windows 10 laptop. U checked the USB with chkdsk and all seems to be ok, with partition manager it has a healthy primary partition FAT32

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

 

Windows 11 installation from USB to bigger NVME SSD drive

Hello - I recently got a Crucial T500 NVME SSD and I'm trying to install Windows 11. I have Windows 11 installed on my current SSD (this is purely a space upgrade), so I know I don't have any hardware incompatibility, and the installed drive is visible on the install screen. But, after copying all the files, installing, and restarting, it does not boot to Windows 11 but back to the bootable USB. The BIOS do not even recognize the SSD as a bootable drive, and the installation media doesn't see any drive that needs repairing, so it's like nothing is happening. But, when I reinstall my original hard drive, I can access the new drive and I can see the Windows file structure added to the new drive (users, windows folder, program files, etc.) Any suggestions?
