    New System New Questions

    Hello Forum,
It looks I'll have a lot of questions until I'll 'swim' in this win 10 as I used with win 7,(I am almost 78 old goat and learn slowly).
In the previous system I installed "AVG PC Tuneup 2015" which integrated with "AVG Protection" (antivirus), and also installed "Time Freeze" to test some programs before real installation.
"CCleaner" was also installed. These tools (besides macrium) were the only maintenance tools, what is your opinion about these tools with win 10 in mind.
There is a "Snipping tool" (previously it was one of the 'Accessories' folder), now I have to 'search' to find it, how can I add it to 'All apps', this tool helps if I need to send you screenshots before I install my graphic editing program.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    :)

    New System New Questions

Hi, welcome to the mysterious and sometimes confusing world of Win 10.

ccleaner and Macrium are fine- many recommend Macrium here- glad you're familiar with disk imaging.
Note that Win 10 is a bit different- there are 3 partitions- a system partition, a recovery partition (for Win 10 automatic recovery etc) and your C: partition. For GPT disks there's also a tiny 16Mb partition. So a system image is recommended.

Time freeze- maybe someone will comment. If it's specified as Win 10 compatible and you're happy with it, presumably fine.

(I've always been happy with being able to remove programs with Geek uninstaller (free, does a scan after uninstallation) or if necessary Revo).

I can't comment specifically on AVG PC Tuneup (= Tuneup Utilities) - years since I ever used that. We take the view that registry cleaning (for example) is risky, and unnecessary - no benefit. If you're using Ccleaner and configure that appropriately, you really shouldn't need much else in the way of cleaning tools.

Disk Defrag is built in to Win 10.

You can add the Snipping Tool to your Win 10 start menu by copying its shortcut into
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Especially if you've upgraded - rather than done a clean install - you will find the Win 10 start menu (LHS) frustrating unless you have jst a few programs installed. You may like to try Classic Shell (free) - very familiar, search (which can be restricted to the start menu alone); expanding menus in columns or a Win 7 look-alike.. and the Snipping Tool appears in Accessories.

You can launch the universal apps from a folder in Classic Shell, or launch the Win 10 start menu.
