Well, having trouble here. I cannot get through steps of a clean boot. For one, it gets into one step that is not even present according to the steps given. In the attempt to go what is given the whole process stops. I tried it again, but it doesn't even get as far as the first attempt. I shut down completely, and retried the steps. It still will not even get past the first step. To me that would tend to indicate there is some program stopping the process.

So far I have tried the MS Malicious software removal, but it found nothing. I have also tried updating a new download of Spybot S&D, but that freezes in the update process and will go no further.

With this being a new system, I have not yet gotten anything else to try with such programs.

Now I have even tried AVG and even AVG PC Tune Up. All to no avail. Even those programs are stopped from completion. It even froze at 10% during disc check. I may end up trashing Win10 and go back to Win7 after doing a low level format of the drive. It seems that no one has an answer to solve the problem.

It's not that no-one has an answer.. but that we have little to go on.

Please could you post a screenshot identifying what exactly it is you think is a discrepancy - remember things do change between major builds, so if the Tutorial should need updating for the Creator's build that would be useful. However, it is often used.

To post a screenshot please us the Insert Image icon above your post to the left of the video icon.

If you can provide detail, perhaps someone can help- unfortunately my crystal ball is down for scheduled maintenance... *Biggrin

Unfortunately, your first sentence is the same for me. It is also the reason why I am not able to post
a screenshot. When I first went in to the steps for a clean boot, it stopped where the step changed.
I can't remember which that was, either. It completely froze at that point where I could do nothing
but to shut everything down and start the PC again. When I again attempted to go through the
steps again it would go no further than into the first step. After that it would not even go into the
steps at all. Now, I had completely shut down, and turned off all power on my master switch each
time. That included the printer, monitor, and even the cable modem power. (All are controlled by
the Master switch on the surge protector.)

This problem has gotten worse, rather than better with each attempt. Now, not only does the screen
flash to black, and the audio sounds occur (many times several times with two sounds each. Almost
like the sounds to unplug an accessory, and plug it back again.), but the mouse even shuts off to
where I must unplug it and plug it back to get it to work.

Also, much of the time the PC goes into a very slow to respond condition. For example; Just typing
this off the top of my head with a typing skill of a steady 85wpm speed it has already taken me just
over ten minutes to complete to this stage.

I am ready to trash this Win10 as I do not have any method of reinstalling after a LLF of the drive.
I feel I must do such a drastic method as I found that some 'invasive' things are not destroyed or
removed after a typical 'recovery' or even restore. Starting with a HDD that is no more than 1's
and 0's, then reloading from discs works every time.

Now, do the same as myself, scratch your head and be confused over the issue. lol

I wish I had a crystal ball as I would concentrate hard on the maintenance just to get back on the issue fast.

Just going right back to the beginning for a moment:
Did the PC behave well initially? At what point did the problems start to arise?
    - some update?
    - something you installed?

As it's new, I'm assuming we can exclude hardware/disk problems.

New PC's will typically be out of date- even a previous major build of Windows behind- when supplied. Did you experience a major upgrade to a new Windows build? Some history may help.

Please post a screenshot (or photo) of your Update History:
    Settings, Update... , Update History

And bearing in mind it's new, you should have some support from the supplier/ manufacturer.

Also, there may well be a manufacturer's recovery partition, which you can use to reset it to 'as new'.

See if one of the options here suits you:
Refresh Windows 10 Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials
    - there are more options than these to repair Windows files, but I feel this may be something else.

Ok! First off, Another had purchased this PC new, but with Windows 7. The company upgraded it to the
current Windows 10. It didn't have any recovery discs with it, but it does have the built-in recovery. I did
try to make a recovery disc, but the system will not do so. It is supposed to, but I believe something of
a type of virus/Trojan is preventing it. Years back I had found that some will disrupt anything that would
tend to cause harm to that virus. The only method I have ever found to eliminate one such as those is
a low level format. I had experimented with all types of anti-virus programs, both online, and added.
Today is even worse than back then as today even the online programs actually must download before
they can work. Even the Microsoft things must do so. That gives all the time needed for a virus to
stop them from working. So far none of the few I have tried can eliminate the problem.

This machine had the problem when I first set it up. The documentation I got shows both the original
Key for Win7, and the new one for Win10. From dating it shows 10 to have been installed at the
time of sale, thus removing 7.

When I attempt to Recover Windows, it just will not do so. Not in making a disc, or running it. What
happens is that the program will freeze right after starting, and no attempt to get it to run helps. I
have tried this several times, and each time (once over four hours frozen) there is never any
progress. Nothing I have found thus far even remotely addresses the problem, and it seems to
    be getting worse.

Now, I have installed (by disc) several of my own programs, and three from companies. (Serif
Photo Plus X8, CD Burner XP, and Bel Arc Advisor) However, as I have stated, the problem
existed with just the original manufacturers installed programs.

As far as I can tell, none of the programs have the problem within them. It seems to be some
virus, and as long as no discs or the slow download then run programs have that particular
virus in them to recognize, it will not help. Finding one of those can be real frustrating, and
    very time consuming.

Now, there may be some update from Windows that could help, but I can't tell as Windows
will not update much on this system. I keep getting a notice that there are no other updates
for my system. On the list shown in Bel Arc there are many yet to load. Windows Update
just doesn't do them. I would need to select one at a time, look it up and try to download
    it that way.

Right now, I must leave as I have duty at the Fire station for a few hours to cover for
another. We have enough firefighters, but no where near enough medics for the
ambulances. That is the problem with volunteer departments, and in Illinois 72%
of the state is volunteer fire and medical. (Plus, I live 16 miles from my station.)

I'll try to find more later on this problem. Again, I am getting very close to
trashing this Win10 system, and installing 7. I don't have any discs for
8 to try. A LLF will take a large part of a day to complete, and I don't have
the time necessary for that quite yet.

Thanks much for all you are trying to help me on this, though.
    Take care,
    Dave.
