Windows 10: New USB flash card reader not working--how to troubleshoot Creators

So I recently got an Orico drive bay combination flash card reader and USB port. The USB port works but the CF format card reader does not. I can't even tell from Device Manager if the CF or any of the other format card readers are even detected.

any suggestions for better use of Device Manager or other tools?

Thanks for the suggestion answering my post. What is a USB card reader and how does it work? Is it the same as a flash drive? How does this plug into the phone? Thanks for your help...

 

New USB flash drive is not detected in Win 10, but OK on other pcs

Hi

I had a look in the BIOS but there is no feature on mine to see usb drives (as far as I could see)

Today I flashed the BIOS with the latest version.

I downloaded that utility Kapil, it found an issue with a device that can't be ejected (F but that is my SD card reader (which I tested again to make sure and it reads and ejects my SD card fine).

Just to double check, all my USB ports work with my mouse, keyboard etc... and my old flash drives. It's just the new flash drive acts as if it is dead now but will work fine in another PC. I can't return the flash drive as it does work, and I'm not sure
what support Dell can give me because all other usb devices work (wacom, xbox controller, external hard drive, old flash drives, sd card reader)

Not sure how you would go about diagnosing.

Do you have any access to another computer running another OS, say a Win 7 machine?

I think I would be inclined to return unit as fault and let store prove to you it works.
