New Video card monitor won't turn off.

I bough a Zotac 750 Ti 2GB and I have my monitor temporarily connected via VGA via the included DVI to VGA adapter (until I get a MiniHDMI to HDMI adapter)

Whenever Windowstries to turn off the monitor, the monitor instead says "cable is disconnected" indefinitely. I have to turn off the monitor manually.

It turns off fine when connecting it to a laptop's VGA output and make it sleep. It also turned off fine on my old video card.

Anyone has an idea? May be caused by the DVI to VGA adapter?

    Thank you.

    :)

Windows 10 Disconnected Displays-where did they go?

The reply is not helpful. I have a similar problem and I use updated Nvidia drivers. There is a problem with Windows 10 handling multiple monitors. If I knew what the problem was, I'd say, but I don't. I do know that Windows 10 won't recognize monitors
I've turned off, even though those monitors have updated drivers. The only work around I've found is to uninstall the video card drivers entirely, and re-install them. This seems to allow Windows 10 to recognize them again. But, don't turn off the monitor,
as Windows 10 won't see it anymore. Then, it's uninstall the driver and re-install it again to get Windows 10 to work.

It does sound like it could be the adapter. Do you have a different one you could try?

Thanks. I am afraid I don't. Fortunately this is a temporal situation but it's annoying that sometimes I forget to turn off the monitor, only to find it showing the cable error.
The only thing sure is that the monitor isn't the problem. If I plug it to a laptop VGA output while the monitor is on, then the cable message disappears and turns off, even if the laptop is off. It's like the VGA connector has some sensor or something, and this adapter doesn't have it. Otherwise, the adapter works fine.

Thank you. I would give you rep if the forum let me (You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to blackroseMD1 again.) *Smile

I suspect it was simply the adapter, which is probably defective or doesn't implement the cable detection pins (or whatever needed to the monitor to detect it's plugged in to a computer)
