Windows 10: New virtual desktop changes my wallpaper on Windows 11

Hello when I add a New desktop using Windows button + Tab the new desktop generally causes background conflict. It opens with a default Windows background. This issue does not repeat itself every time, it seems to me this happens randomly throughout the day. I am using a slideshow folder for the background which is located inside my main folder on the desktop. I keep everything inside this folder and my desktop is always backed up to OneDrive . I added this last detail because maybe OneDrive can cause such a bug. Thanks!

Desktop wallpaper for new users

Hi Alaa,

Setting default users lets you specify the wallpaper on user's desktops and prevents other users from changing the image or its presentation. You can check these steps on how to set wallpapers from all users:

• Type run on the search bar and press Enter.
• On the window, type gpedit.msc and click OK.
• Locate and click Administrative Templates.
• Select Desktop > Desktop > Desktop Wallpaper.
• Tick Enabled, and name your wallpaper.
• Select Apply and click OK.

After performing the steps above, you may restart your PC.

Possible Bug: Wallpaper Slideshow and Virtual desktops (Task View)

So I may have found a bug... not sure if this has been reported or not. I setup a slideshow background on Windows 11 everything works fine. Upon reboot, if I create a new Desktop from the "Task View" button, the desktop wallpaper reverts to the static image. If I then go into personalization and set the wallpaper back up, I can create virtual desktops without any issue.

This occurs each time I reboot. I did do an in-place upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to restart the computer and check if you are able to successfully change the lock screen wallpaper.

  From Desktop, right click and select
  Personalize.

  In Personalization window, click on
  Lock Screen in the left pane.

  And choose wallpaper you would like to apply for the lock screen by choosing the browse option.
