CVE-2020-1045 Microsoft ASP.NET Core Security Feature Bypass Vulnerability
A security feature bypass vulnerability exists in the way Microsoft ASP.NET Core parses encoded cookie names. The ASP.NET Core cookie parser decodes entire cookie strings which could allow a malicious attacker to set a second cookie with the name being percent encoded.

Additional Issues Fixed in this Release

Fixed a compiler crash for switch statements or switch expressions that use pattern matching.

Restored the "Stop Debugging(Shift +F5)" workflow for Unit Testing by terminating the test run.

Prevent VS crash on switching project configuration when WinForms .NET Core designer has unsaved changes.

Out of support versions of .NET Core will no longer be reinstalled during a repair or upgrade if they were removed outside of VS setup.

Fixed an issue where External Dependencies weren't accurately searched in Find in Files.

Reintroduced the "Commit..." button in the Git submenu in Solution Explorer's context menu.

Fixed a bug that caused the TFVC Check-in Notes label to be invisible.

Fix crash when using WinForm designer in SDK-style csproj with multiple target frameworks.

Fixed issue where <d:Style.DataContext> was reporting an invalid markup error.

New Visual Studio 2019 v16.7 and v16.8 Preview 1 released

Today we are excited to announce the release of Visual Studio 2019 version 16.7 and Visual Studio 2019 version 16.8 Preview 1. Each of these releases have features we have been working hard to deliver. Install version 16.7 to start using our highlight improvements. Included in this list are Git integration including a new merge editor and easy conflict resolution, WPF design-time data, C++ support for 64-bit projects and debug builds, and additional IntelliSense functionality. In addition, Visual Studio 2019 v16.7 is our next long-term servicing release. In conjunction, we are releasing Visual Studio 2019 v16.8 Preview 1 which you can install from our download site. Our Preview version brings you pre-release functionality of the Git Repository window for easier navigation and more uses for the Quick Actions and Refactoring menu. We’ve provided additional highlights of what’s new below, yet additional information can be found in our release notes.

As always, we love to hear your feedback. Developer Community is the best venue to share your experiences so we can continue to learn how these features impact your work, both positively and negatively. Through this portal, we can have more in-depth conversation around future features.

Visual Studio Roadmap Updates and Visual Studio 2019 Information

Yesterday, we covered What’s next for Visual Studio for Mac, and today we’ve updated our Visual Studio Roadmap so you can see the latest news about what we’re working on. We’re particularly excited to share this update since it includes information about the first preview of Visual Studio 2019, which we will make available by the end of this calendar year. We plan to have a generally available (GA) version of Visual Studio 2019 in the first half of 2019.

Be sure to check out the full roadmap for all the updates, but some notable improvements are:

A better performing and more reliable debugger, moving to an out-of-process 64-bit process.

Improved search accuracy for menus, commands, options, and installable components.

Visual Studio tooling for Windows Forms and WPF development on .NET Core 3.
