Windows 10: New Windows 10 laptop has blackscreen after startup

    New Windows 10 laptop has blackscreen after startup


    When the computer is started, it boots into the log in screen as normal, but after you enter the password it goes to a black screen with the cursor instead of the desktop, win+ctrl+shift+b does not fix this, I can open task manager and restart explorer.exe, but that also does not fix it. If I leave it alone for ~20 minutes whatever is happening stops and I can continue using it as normal. How would I go about fixing this?

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
