  1. New Windows 10 Pro x64 installation only boots in safe mode

So today I encountered something strange. After using my PC for online class for a while it froze up and forced a restart. It wasn't an instant one tho like if the restart button is pressed. Anyways after that Windows didn't want to boot. It Always put me into recovery mode. The strange part was that my mouse and keyboard didn't work no matter what I did. So I decided to make the hard call and reinstall Windows. I only formatted the drive that had the OS on it. Well after the installation the same thing happened as before. It freezes up I get a black screen and then i couldn't boot into my installation. Recovery Mode didn't work this time either. Before I was suspecting my graphic cards driver because it gave me issues before, and I couldn't update it for whatever reason. Anyways I made the really hard call and formatted everything and installed Windows on a different drive then before. So I don't have an issue with space for updates. After this the same issue happened again, This time Recovery Mode did work tho And I could boot into safe mode without any issues where this problem doesn't accure. What can I do? I kinda need my PC right now.

    :)

Cannot Enter Safe Mode / Computer boots normally

    I'm running Win 10 Pro 1903.

Here are the steps I have taken to get into safe mode: Start button, settings, update and security, recovery, advanced startup, troubleshoot, advanced options, startup settings, restart. The computer boots normally, not in safe mode. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks in advance for your help and interest. .

  3. Can't boot into Normal/Safe Mode with Networking, only safe mode...

    Good Evening,
I could do with some pointers on resolving an issue. I can only boot into windows in safe mode in Windows 10. Normal mode and safe mode with networking doesn't work. The problem occurred after a windows update. I have removed the latest updates that were installed and cleared any pending ones but it still won't boot properly. I have also run the troubleshooter and tried to recovery to an earlier date which also doesn't work.
    The laptop is a HP ENVY 17 notebook. At boot it just gets to the HP logo with the circular loading icon and no further and can only boot it into safe mode. Can anyone recommend the next steps? I have also tried the following;

    • stopping startup items
    • uninstalling hardware drivers
    • removing recent software
    • running troubleshooters at boot
    • sfc scan
    • diagnostic/selective startups with minimal services running
Would the fact that I cant boot into Safe Mode with Networking imply its a network driver related issue?
Bit of a dead end really, any help would be much appreciated
    Kind regards
    Trevor

  4. New Windows 10 Pro x64 installation only boots in safe mode

Windows 10 boot to safe mode

I recently had my disk drive replaced by Dell. The new drive supposedly came the initial Windows 10 image I had received when I purchased the system. I am no longer able to boot into safe mode by holding down the <shift> key when booting the system. The
boot tab in msconfig shows only

Windows 10 (c:\Windows) : Current OS; Default OS.

Is there a way to add more entries where I could assign Boot options for alternate shell or network?

I found a guide "Safe Mode in Win 10" which suggested using bcdedit as follows:

    bcdedit /copy {Current} /d "Windows 10 Safe Mode"

    The command came back with:

The copy command specified is not valid

Run "bcdedit /?" for command line assistance

    The parameter is incorrect.

What parameter should I be using to create the new entry in the boot list?
