    Hello,

I have recently built a new AMD computer and it has been crashing once every few days or so. I'm getting the following errors in the Event Viewer

    ERROR

The previous system shutdown at 8:48:43 AM on ?2/?20/?2021 was unexpected.

    CRITICAL

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

    ERROR

Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0

    ERROR

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

    Reported by component: Processor Core

    Error Source: Machine Check Exception

    Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error

    Processor APIC ID: 18

The details view of this entry contains further information.

    Some specs:

    Processor: 5950 Ryzen

    Video: GTX 1060 6GB

Ram: 128G Gskill Trident RGB DDR4-3200

    Mobo: ASRock X570 PG Velocita

    Observations:

Computer has been rebooting while away from computer with little/no work done

CPU/GPU temperatures have been stable never breaching 120F

Memory overclocking using XMP profile with specified timings on box and no adjustments

Tested all sticks with XMP profile setting with memtest and passed, all sticks came from same kit.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    all games crash!

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

New CPU cooler for Ryzen questions and suggestions

Your Ryzen 7 1700X should be close to 4.0GHz anyway, so overclocking is pointless.
If the computer freezes then there should be an error listed in the crash logs, most likely a clock watchdog timeout, changing the cooler won't fix it.
I'd suggest leaving the CPU stock and clocking your Ram up a bit.
