  1. New Windows 10 Update Created a Series of Old Problems

I got up the other morning and found my computer monitor lit up and stuck at a log in page. I thought it was odd but just power cycled my computer Dell M4800. There were no prompts to tell me that an updated was being performed but it took much longer than normal for Windows to open my log in page.

Windows actually worked fairly normally. My office programs were ok and I could use the Internet. Here's what wasn't working:

    1. Search. When I entered text to search on, the dialog box would pop up but the box was empty except for blue dots moving across the top of the box.

    2. Update & Security. One of the potential remedies that I found instructed me to use "Update & Security" from the Settings menu. However, very shortly after opening this Window, it closed by itself.

    3. Activity Circle. A blue activity circle was blinking on and off next to my cursor.

Looking online I found and tried a number of remedies that didn't help. I did find one discussion that gave me a critical clue. I was able to determine that the problem only impacted my account. When I logged into my wife's account, everything worked fine. With this information I found https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-start-winpc/windows-start-button-does-not-work-in-one-user/823466a8-55e2-4d92-8712-6d4702f0740c?page=1.

Reading through the discussion I found a number of things that I had already tried to no avail. I then noticed the entry by Jay Chiu dated July 4, 2017. There were 114 other people that were helped by his suggestion I was number 115. I tried it and all three issues went away.

I'm bringing it up here in hopes of helping other users that might experience the same problem and save them some time and aggravation.

    :)

  2. creating new folder problem in windows 10 creator

    Hi Gudiya,

The problem you've encountered in creating a folder could be caused by software or program conflict as the issue appeared a few days after installing the Windows 10 Creators update. For us to know if this only occurs when creating a new folder from the desktop,
we suggest that you try creating a new folder using a keyboard shortcut or from File Explorer. Please refer to the steps below:

Creating a new folder using a keyboard shortcut.

    • Click on the desktop.
    • Press CTRL + SHIFT + N.
    • A new folder should be created.

Creating a new folder from File Explorer.

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Hover your mouse on the location where you want to create a new folder.
    • Right-click it, go to New > Folder.

In case the problem persists, then we suggest that you go ahead and perform a clean boot. Doing so will start your computer using minimal drivers to help us determine what conflict is causing the problem. Check out
How to perform a clean boot in Windows for the detailed steps.

Let us know the result so we can further assist you.

    Regards.

  3. New install Windows 10 (issue solved)

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

    Heres a couple examples:

    Here

    Here

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
