Windows 10: New Windows 11 Update to HP Laptop: Can not shutdown, hibernate or sleep - wakes up within...

I have a 2 year old HP Envy Laptop with 2TB SSD. It came with Windows 10 and has been flawless. For some reason Microsoft FORCED me to update to Windows 11 2 weeks ago. I avoided the update as long as I can but eventually I did the "UPDATE and RESTART".Now, anytime I try to SHUTDOWN, HIBERNATE or SLEEP, within 30 seconds the computer boots up again. Essentially, every shutdown command appears to be treated as RESTART.I have scoured the internet and performed nearly all the recommended "fixes" except for a computer RESET, but with my 2 TB SSD drive about 3/4 fill I can't afford to lose the da

WIndows 10 will not wake up from sleep or hibernation

I am running windows 10 19041.388 on an HP All in One PC and cannot get it to wake up from sleep. I have done the following:

1. Allow mouse and keyboard to allow device to wake up computer.
2. Updated drivers
3. Turn off fast start up
4. Re-enable Hibernation via Command Prompt
5. USB Selective Suspend Setting - Disabled

I have tried the above steps using both a wired HP mouse and a wireless Jelley Comb mouse

 

Task scheduler wakes from sleep/hibernation but PC then goes back to sleep/hibernation

Hi,

I have a HP EliteBook 840 G1 with Windows 10.

I am looking to put my laptop to sleep/hibernation each night at a set time. Then the scheduler will wake the PC at a set time and run a .bat file.

The Windows scheduler wakes the PC fine but after a few minutes it goes back to sleep/hibernation. I would appreciate any suggestions to prevent this.

The laptop is connected to power the whole time and I have disabled auto sleep.

Usually, Sleep and Hibernate features are used to save power when using a computer. However, hibernate may not be available for all PCs as it was designed for laptops. Regarding your concern, since you’re trying to turn
off or disable these features, you may follow the step below:

• To turn off Sleep:
  
  Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep. Then, select

• Type Command Prompt in the Search box from
  Start.
• Right-click on it, then select Run as administrator.
• In the Command Prompt window, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off and press
  Enter. Close the window.
