Windows 10: Newest Windows Update on 10/10/24 Now Printer Spoolers not working

Our computer did a windows updated on 10/11/24 and now none of our printers work. Says Printer Spooler needs to start. Any Ideas on how to fix this. We need our computer to print receipts for our business

Windows 10 Update

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Windows 10 Spooler Not Running

• Windows 10, version 1709, OSbuild 16299.125
• Error messages:

- If I attempt to install a printer, it reads: "The Active Directory Domain Services is unavailable."

- If I go to the Control Panel - List of Services and look at Spooler, it reads: "Failed to start servie Error Code 5."

"Windows could not start the Spooler service on local Computer Error 5 access is denied.

- If I attempt to start Spooler, it reads "Windows could not start the Spooler service on local Computer Error 5 access is denied.

My PC is an ordinary modern Dell PC, XPS 8500 with 8 gb RAM and is working fine otherwise.

Windows updated itself this week, with feature update 1709, and 3 quality updates, KB4048951, KB4053577, and KB 4054517.

One other glitch that may help to understand the problem. This is my personal PC at home that only I use, and I am the Administrator. However, when I attempt to add an automated task, Windows 10 will not allow it and treats me as if I were a guest user.

 

Windows 10 Printer Spooler Failure

I have 3 computers. All 3 were erroring on my printer spooler. I cannot get the printer spooler to maintain operation. It will continuous flick on and off. They are all upgrades from w7. I have found a way to put up with it for the last year and am rather
upset the Windows has still failed to issue an update to resolve this.

Have followed the steps as outlined from
Prabhavathi's previous post linked in multiple threads. I have also tried eVollo's Registry
Edit suggestion.

Step 2 from Prabhavathi solved issues on 1 computer. Other 2 still maintain issue. Neither has files in C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS. When I check my Computer management event view applications, the spoolsv.exe shows error.

Is there a fix for this yet?
