Windows 10: newly bought external CD/DVD drive not appears in This PC screen

I just received an external CD/DVD drive I bought from Amazon.ca





I plugged it in but it was not recognized and I am unable to use it.
I went to device manager and it was there.
How do I fix that ?







*** P.S. my computers have only 2.0 USB ports. Does that matter ? ***

Frozen keyboard layout screen after getting dpc_watchdog_violation -Windows 10

Status of computer: Power on, windows shows preparing for repair, select keyboard layout screen appears and freezes.

Next step, power on, press delete key to access bios, bios only shows hard drive, no usb drives, no cd/dvd drive.

Not able to boot to login page or windows logo screen , hence the reason for the initial request.

Created windows media installation on another pc dvd/cd drive, not able to boot from created dvd/cd on affected pc because it does not recognize the dvd/cd drive, hence the reason for the initial request.

Create windows media installation on usb drive, not able to boot from usb stick on affected pc because it does not recognize the dvd/cd drive, hence the reason for the intial request.

Would like to be able to access windows safe mode but finding that it impossible in windows 10. Will be taking out hard drive and accessing as external drive on another pc to at least save the data.

Curious as to why Microsoft has not responded to all the other multitude of requests for solutions to this problem that seem to have been happening since the beginning of 2015?

So no answer anymore? I bought an extra external DVD! drive now. original cd available. but it doesn't install on win 10

 

If it is in Device Manager, then it is recognized.
Put a CD or DVD in the drive, does it show up now?
If not, delete the Upper and Lower Filters in the Windows Registry: https://www.askvg.com/optical-drives...n-my-computer/

I went to diskmgmt and it is shown there.
So why it does not work ?

 

I cannot insert a media because the light is NOT on and the door does not open.

 

Also there are no Upper or Lower Filters .

 

Is this computer a Laptop or Desktop? Does this Optical drive come with it's own Power Adapter or a Dual Y USB cable with a Red end (Power)? If it doesn't have a power adapter and this is a desktop, be sure to plug the drive into the Back USB ports and not the front which ports are weaker. If it Does come with a power adapter, be sure to plug it into the Wall and not thru a Surge Protector or extension cord as this will diminish the power. If it has a Y USB Cable with a red end, be sure to plug in both ends to increase the power. Also, if your computer has USB 2.0 ports (black) try it on one of these ports. If this is a laptop, and it does not have it's own power adapter or Y cable, or USB 2.0 ports then get a Powered USB Hub to help increase the power from the computer.

 

I am afraid the above are not applicable.

1. The ext. CD/DVD has only one usb connector which is to be plugged directly to my computer. No Y connector that can be plugged to a power source.

2. All my computers are laptops and they are all connected to the wall plug 24/7. So they are perpetually fully charged.

3. I have a 3 years old ext, CD.DVD drive and it works perfectly with the same computers.
