  1. Newly installed 2nd NVMe SSD not visible in Windows Explorer

Hello, I just installed a new, second NVMe SSD in my desktop and I do not see it in Windows Explorer or Disk Management. The new hard drive is visible in BIOS and it looks normal there. It is visible in Device Manager and looks normal under the Properties -> General tab, but if I click "Populate" under Volumes tab I get the following message: "Volume information for this disk cannot be found" That may be related to it not being formatted yet. Also in properties under Events tab, I see the following event log:----Device SCSI\Disk&Ven_NVMe&Prod_WD_BLACK_SN770_2\5&187244af&0&

  2. Windows refuses to install on NVME SSD (Samsung 960 EVO)

First, thanks everyone who copy-pasted the first relevant results they found in Google. I found those before I asked the question.

The solution that I got to work is as follows:

    • Disable CSM / UEFI
    • Enable Secure Boot
    • Now the installer can access the NVME SSD
      • Format the drive
      • Restart the machine

    • Enable CSM / UEFI

    • Disable Secure Boot

    • Proceed to installer and now Windows will allow you to install to the NVME SSD drive

New PC, first Windows install - BIOS recognizes M.2 NVMe SSD, Windows installer doesn't

I am open to any suggestions, regarding installing OS on new PC.
I still have 2nd PC with lenovo motherboard, tried to do the same thing as with the b550 and had the same windows install loop.
Idk what i'm doing wrong. Is there perhaps other way to install OS on the new nvme ssd?
Maybe installing windows on new ssd, while being in another windows with my old ssd at the same time?

Upgrade Windows 7 on SSD NVMe to Windows 10 on SSD NVMe

    Hi Varnium,

    Thanks for updating me.

Usually, you can install Windows 10 on SSD NVme directly if your computer BIOS detects it.

You can try the following steps if your computer detects the SSD NVme:

1-After creating a Windows 10 bootable USB and going through the installation process. From the Installation page "Install Now", press F10 to open the Command Prompt.

2-Type these commands and hit enter:

    diskpart

    list disk

select disk X (Replace X with your SSD NVme number shown in the list above)

    clean

3-Restart your computer and go through the installation process.

If your computer does not detect it or the BIOS detects it, but you cannot see it during the installation process, it is best to contact your computer manufacturer's support services to provide you with accurate information about configuring BIOS.

Note: Make sure you can find all Windows 10 compatible drivers for your computer from manufacturer's official website and your computer fully supports Windows 10 before taking further actions.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you need further assistance.
