    Newly-Purchased Home with Network Managed Alarm and Automation is Password Locked


    We purchased a home that featured state-of-the-art circa 1995 home automation Control4, Ethernet/WiFi network Luxul/Ubiquiti, and a security alarm system Elk integrated with smoke/fire/carbon monoxide alarms also Elk. All of these systems are managed via an Asus VC66 computer running Microsoft Windows 10?, which is password protected. The login ID for the computer is the name of the original owner, now deceased. We purchased the home from the second owner, who claims she never logged onto the system... ever. I contacted the Control4 technician who transferred all of the equipment,

    A newly created network of mine appears on the managed list of known networks but the list of available networks. why is that?

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    I understand your inconvenience. We will assist you with it.

    If you are referring to the lock screen, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.


    • On the lock screen, click on Ease of access icon next to network connection icon.

    • Click On Screen keyboard.

    • Type the password and check.

    I also suggest you to change the language and check.


    • On the lock screen, click on language icon next to network connection icon.

    • Click the language to US English.

    • Type the password and check.

    change the lock screen password

    Hi Eric,

    Let us resolve you concern regarding on how you can change your lock screen password. We suggest that you follow the steps below:

    • Press the Windows key; then, select Settings.
    • Click Accounts; then, Sign-In Options.
    • Tap the Change button in the Password section.
    • Re-enter your password; then, create a new password.
