Windows 10: Newly saved files not including file extention

Hello,



When I download a new file the file is not downloading the file type as part of the new file name.



For instance when I download my newest bank statement the is downloading as 'StatementDecember' rather than 'StatementDecember.pdf'. This is happening when downloading from Edge and Chrome and from multiplereputable website sites Bank, Google Photo, Outlook. This also happens when I try to download JPG files.


Once the file is downloaded I can manually rename them to include '*.pdf' or '*.jpg' and the file works fine and retains this file association for that onespecific file but any new downloads have the same issue.


While downloading the option for saving the file with a specific file type is also not present in the drop-down box as shown below.




I had recently installed a program called "CopyTransHEICforWindowsv1.007" to view HEIC files on my windows computer. I am not sure if this problem started when I installed this but have now since uninstalled the program and am still having the problem.

Saves log files ?

You can either read the files in Windows or my preferred method is.....

You can then run cleaner, you will see the log files listed, then if you right click you can save as a text file and then have a read. You may also get an "error reporting" log listed seperatly.

  How are you accessing emails through web browser or through a mail client (mail app, outlook 2010/2013)?

  Are you trying to save the email attached file? Please elaborate.
  

If you are using Outlook email, let’s try simple steps and check if it helps. Try the below steps provided.

Step 1.

If you want to save only the attached file from the email, try the below step.

• 
  Right click on the attached file and click on Save as.
  
• 
  Now select a folder location where you want to save the attached file.
  

Step 2.

If you want to save the file along with the email try the below steps provided.

• 
  Open the mail you want to save and click on File on the top of the right side.
  
• 
  Click on Save As and select a folder location where you want to save the email.
