Windows 10: News and Interests Showing Up and Running In Task Manager

Hello,I was checking my Task Manager today after installing Cumulative Update KB5043131 on my HP OMEN Desktop and my wife's HP Envy laptop and noticed a task called News and Interests running see image below. We are running Win10 22H2 Build 19045.4957 . I have not noticed this before running in my Task Manager. I have News and Interests turned off in my Task Bar Settings and I do not see it but why is it all of a sudden showing up in my Task Manager. I have tried to use End Task for this but it keeps coming back after I end it. I use FireFox as my default browser and I have no interest in us

Task Manager not running


I have added a new task to the ones already populated which I suppose were in Win7
The new task or the present tasks are not running as there is no entry in the history or
recently run file
are there other steps necessary to get the new task manager to start up ?

 

Windows 10 - cannot add exec to Startup in Task Manager

I purchased a new computer with Windows 10 already installed. I am trying to add an exec to the startup list but Win10 will not accept it. The exec runs successfully on my Windows 10 machine if I start it manually.

Steps I've taken: Task Manager, Startup Tab, File>Run New Task. (browse to location, select.) It will start immediately, but does not show up on the list to autostart, nor does it start on reboot.

Any suggestions?

1. Group Policy Settings:
   
   • If your system is part of a domain or managed by an organization, Group Policy settings might be configured to disable "News and Interests" on restart. You can check and modify these settings if you have administrative access.
     
   • Open the Local Group Policy Editor by running gpedit.msc.
     
   • Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > News and interests.
     
   • Ensure that the policy "Enable news and interests on the taskbar" is set to "Enabled" or "Not Configured".
     
2. Registry Settings:
   
   • Incorrect registry settings might cause the feature to turn off. You can check and modify the relevant registry keys.
     
   • Open the Registry Editor by running regedit.
     
   • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Feeds.
     
   • Ensure the value for ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode is set to 0 (show icon and text) or 1 (show only icon) .
     
3. Windows Updates:
   
   • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
     
4. User Profile Corruption:
   
   • There might be an issue with your user profile. Try creating a new user account and see if the problem persists.
     
5. Software Conflicts:
   
   • Try disabling or uninstalling recently installed software to see if it resolves the issue.
     
6. System File Corruption:
   
   • Corrupted system files can cause various issues. Running the System File Checker (SFC) might help.
     
   • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run
     
     sfc /scannow
     
     
   • This command attempts to repair the Windows image using files from Windows Update. If the process gets stuck, be patient and let it complete.
