Windows 10: newtowrk driver driver screwed after ssd clone

i cloned my 256gb ssd from my latitude 7480 to my recently bought computer amazon link. it caused a few errors under the "other devices tab" which most of them were resolved after I connected to ethernet and let windows automatically search for drivers for them. now I only have 2 erroring things and its the network controller and the multimedia controller. i have searched and searched for drivers for it and nothing has worked. currently I'm having to use a netgear USB connecter just to have a working wifi adapter. everything worked before I cloned my SSD. ethernet works and a USB wifi adapte

I kinda agree with you, but on a wholr, do not. While I have done things a bit differently than this specific situation, by installing Windows directly to the SSD, and cloning after, my testing shows that there are no issues doing this, very little that can go wrong, provided your system is stable.

There are certain features that must be disabled in this situation, like auto defrag and such, but even with a fresh install to the SSD, you need to take steps to ensure that you SSD performs properly, regardless of how the data got there.

Arming yourself with a bit of knowledge can go a long way.

Installing the latest chipset driver, and the RST Tools, will ensure optimal performance of the SSD. but rather than taking my advice, I suggest the OP takes a look here:

Keep in mind, also, Digibucc, that many retail drives include software and such that very specifically is to be used to ttranser the OS from an existing mechanical drive to an SSD, and if there really was alot fo issues stemming from the cloning process, they would not have packages like that, simply to eliminate tech support costs. While not the optimal option, cloning is NOT a bad thing, as long as you take the nessecary steps.

 

Issues with driver Following Cloning SSD Drive

Windows 10....Cloned my HDD to a Brand new SSD Drive. SSD Drive is a SamSung 850 EVO 500GB Internal SSD.

Clone went well; PC Boots great; programs running fine.....but

I also installed the SamSung Magician Software which monitors the SSD and provides "Health" Alerts, checks for Firmware Updates...etc

Under this software's System Compatibility Tab it shows there is an Issue. See image below. The text directs the user to an Intel Website. I have several Intel items listed in my Device Manager List.....and this Text doesn't clearly describe what Intel
Device, what driver needs attention. When I navigate to the Intel site it does open a site that reads "Downloads for Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST)". Looking at my PC's Device Manager List, I have nothing displayed as Rapid Storage Technology,
or even close. I do have in Device Manager ....Storage Controllers, clicking to expand it it shows....Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller.

I am not sure how to proceed....if the Sunsung Alert had the same driver ID as in my Device Mgr list I would know which driver needs attention.

Anyone gone thru this that can assist?

SSD samsung evo and amd drivers

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

The issue could be because of the AMD drivers installed on the computer.

Since the Samsung SSD is working fine with the Microsoft AHCI driver, I suggest you to update the AMD driver and check if that helps. To update the AMD drivers follow the steps from the article

Update drivers in Windows 10.

If updating the drivers didn’t help, I suggest you to roll back the driver to previous build and check if that helps. To roll back the driver to previous build follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. In Device manager, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
   
4. Right click on AMD SATA Controller and select
   Properties.
   
5. Navigate to the Driver tab and click on Roll Back Driver.
   
6. Restart the computer.
