Windows 10: NMS Game Progress Saved if going from MS Game Pass for PC to buy to own?

Hi,


I don't have a great deal of time for gaming anymore so I want to cancel my MS Game Pass subscription. But I've put a lot of hours in No Man's Sky so I thought I would buy the game at 20% discount with my current Game Pass subscription so I can keep playing NMS occasionally.

My question is will I keep my progress as it stands now on my Game Pass save or will the paid MS Store version not be able to sync with my current save? I don't really want to start from scratch due to the limited available gaming time :-

Xbox Game Pass PC Game Save Location

Does anyone know where the games downloaded from the xbox game pass pc save to? When you select to install a game it asks what drive you want to save to if you have multiple. I always select it to save to my HDD and not my SSD. But I had to reinstall my
xbox game pass app (which was on my ssd) and now it does not recognize my games and I cannot find the game files on the HDD.

Also is there a way to tell xbox game pass for pc where to look for the files so it does not need to be downloaded again?

If you can’t install Game Pass Games on your PC, follow these suggestions:

Check if you have the right Game Pass

Clear Cache of Xbox Game Pass App

Update to the latest Windows 10 version,viz v1903

Admin privileges for Games

Give Admin privileges for Games

Check Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

Repair Game if it keeps crashing or doesn’t work

Cannot Sign in to Xbox Live
