Windows 10: No 1920x1080 resolution while using Windows 10

I had same issue, with ATI RADEON 3870, after removing all with AMD tool, then allowing it to upgrade to the Microsoft Generic, then update, find drivers "in computer" there appeared and AMD folder that I suppose was fetched in the update driver.. I updated to the file in that folder

AMD-14.41RC1-Win8.1-64Bit-OpenCL2-Sep19

and now it works fine.

 

So your now on the 1709 Fall edition with all working good?

I think it was graphics card related. Somebody didn't check the update was OK with them all.

 

Monitor Resolution Problem after Microsoft Upgrade.
Problem: Resolution won’t restore to 1920 x 1080 or higher. This may sometimes happen after Microsoft does an Update to Windows.
Fix:
Go to Device Manager:




Expand Display adapters:





Open the ATI Radeon HD 3450 and click “Uninstall Device”






Check off “Delete the driver software for this device.” And then click “Uninstall”.
Now, with the monitor still on, shut down the computer. Restart the computer and the computer/Windows will recognize the monitor and install the appropriate driver.
Full screen resolution should now be available.

I found this thread/forum yesterday after my wife's computer , an older HP desktop using a Radeon 3000 graphics chip, experienced the exact same problem.

The display, her wide screen, suddenly flickered, went blank and then switched from the 1920 X1080 she'd been using to 1024 X 768.

We have tried everything !

There is no setting above 1024 X 768 in the control panel.

We've uninstalled , reinstalled the Radeon and the TV, we've searched for new drivers and the only thing that Win shows is the generic PnP driver.

We've gone into registry and the TV is still shown as 1920 X1080

What else is there to try ?

 

Had the same issue with my Radeon video card a few days ago! Finally found a solution, had to reinstall an old driver from January of 2015, now everything displays fine

We got it working !

She had to roll back the Win 10 v1709 to the previous version. 1709 had the "roll back" driver option greyed out. The previous Win ver. then allowed us to roll back to the Radeon driver that was working up until two days ago !

Now to figure out how to stop Win 10 from "upgrading" it again.

Watching Netflix on a 36" screen @ 1024 X 768 is painful !

 

AMD does provide older drivers on its website, but I have no idea how to determine which one is the best one for a given card: Previous

After puzzling over this for a few days -- 1920x1080 resolution just disappeared after PC went into power saving mode one fine day -- and then thinking its my cable (all connections were solid) , I came across this solution. Tried it and it worked! I signed up to the forum just to say thank you.

 

My in-laws computer suffered the same fate with it's installed Radeon HD4350 GPU. I was able to rollback the driver as instructed here to fix the problem.

Does anyone know if the driver will continue to keep updating on it's own? I don't think they are capable of fixing it on their own when this happens.

Pretty awful that they feel the need to update drivers with obvious failures within them. Clearly no one tested this at all.
