No access to a router acting as a file server from Windows 11

I am using a laptop with Windows 11 Pro Edition version 21 H2 and trying to access a router, that is in the same network, using Explorer I receive the following error: "Impossible to access \\ROUTER_NAME. The user could not get the authorisation required to use the network resource. For access authorisations contact server administrator. The remote procedure call has not succeeded and has not been executed."Using another Windows 11 Home Edition laptop freshly installed, I have the same result while with a third laptop with Windows 10 all works fine. The router acts also as a file server in

Belkin 802.11N hub has USB connections; Acts like dedicated network server.

Asus WL-500W runs linux, you can see in it's logs that it starts Samba daemon, FTP daemon and other stuff. Router is visible in Network, no drivers needed. USB devices are also accessible via FTP locally and from internet. Router web admin allows you to create and protect directories. It also acts as Media server, Windows Media Player recognizes it. And it also has true Firewall with configurable filters. Oh yes, it also has FTP/www file Download manager and torrent built-in.
But that Asus has problems, be cautious before buying, read forums first, etc..

Anyway, such features is a step in the right direction.

Unable to access server via remote desktop after router change

    Hi,

I manage my home theatre and music servers via remote desktop. Both have wired connections to the router.

All has been well for many years.

Recently our old modem/router was replaced with a new one. There have been no other changes.

While I can still remote into the home theatre server I am no longer able to remote into the music server:

Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer....

    What I can do is:

    • ping the music server
    • bring up shares on the music server on another computer
    • access the music server using TeamViewer
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can use remote desktop to manage my music server again please?

Remote access to my (local) server's folders

I am running a simple local fileserver. Windows based.

I would like to access (load, save, modify) what's on this server when I am away on business trips. Laptop -- internet -- router - server

What is the best way to do this? Setup WebDAV or ftp-server or something else? I would prefer direct access, ie. being able to load/save from an application rather than using ftp as a separate step.
