no access to computer at all

Computer: Dell Optiplex 3020 Original O/S: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
Did the free upgrade to Windows 10 couple of days ago, didn't work so restore to Windows 7 and the problem now is none of my usb ports work meaning that I can't use any keyboard or mouse. Only available ports in computer are USB Ethernet Headphone and microphone ports. Any suggestions in how to regain control so I can install the proper drivers for all the hardware? Much appreciated thanks

    :)

  2. New computer, cannot access wifi/internet at all.

I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Right click the network icon in System Tray at bottom right end of task bar to Troubleshoot Problems.

Try restarting your modem, router and PC in that order with 1 minute in between each.

Try updating the Network adapter driver from the PC's Support Downloads webpage.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Try Rolling back and then Uninstalling the Network adapter driver in Device Manager. Right click Start to open Device Manager, choose the Network adapter you're using, on Driver tab choose Roll back, restart PC. If that doesn't help ry Uninstall, restart to
    reinstall.

    Try all of these steps:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10741/...

If nothing else works check which version of WIndows 10 you're running at Settings>System>About. If not 1709 what I would do if you haven't yet is manually install Fall Creator Version 1709 by installing Media Creation Tool and choosing to Upgrade Now.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...
. This the most stable method to upgrade to the new version (which you need anyway) and will bring you fully up to date with reinstalled Windows that often will solve any other problems you have.

If problems persist with the new version then you can roll it back and hide it with the Hide Updates tool to wait for it to mature more:

    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-uninstal...

    Hide Updates Tool:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

If an older version then you can go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I'd also check at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Installed Updates if there were WIndows Updates installed before this problem started. You can uninstall them from the link there to see if the problem goes away. If so you can hide the Updates
    using the same tool above.

You can also try to System Restore to a point before the problem began:
    http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

If still no luck then I'd download the latest media for your version of Windows 10 from this site, click on the ISO or open the bootable media, right click Setup to run it as a Repair Install:

    https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-scienc...

You also are entitled to Support from your internet provider to get online on all devices. This is always included in the monthly bill. If your router is less than a year old they will also Support getting it connected.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

no access to computer at all

Try here first, look in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers, any yellow exclamation points there or anywhere else in Device manager, found these drivers here, also can get the rest if needed here too for others http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/...esktop/drivers

jds63 thanks for your reply but the point is I can't do anything during the whole booting process because the usb controller are not configure properly even after windows is completely on there is no way to use keyboard or mouse. So I can't access Device manager at all or anything. Is there a way that I can access device manager off this hard drive but in a different system. I have different boxes available

  6. you could take the hdd out of current system and if you have another pc put the hdd in that one boot it up and see if you have same issue granted itll try to install the hardware on the different machine but it might correct your problem then take it back out and put in original pc and boot up and see...

Saying like OP said, have access to another PC or device can download drivers there. Even without proper drivers should still work, have any other mouse to try ? Your Welcome.

Yeah if I have another Optiplex 3020 I will do it right away but I don't. I do have different boxes though but no identical one. Yes I tried with different mouse and different keyboard but nothing and in all the usb ports. Yes you are right they should work no matter what in a "normal install" but never run into this problem before so I am running out of ideas. Remember this happened after upgrading to windows 10 and reverting back to windows 7

  10. Before taking out the hard drive I would attempt to reset your BIOS via the jumpers on the motherboard. Oddly when I first upgraded from Win 8.1 to 10 it screwed with my BIOS and deleted all my saved BIOS profiles. If you're able to reset and get into the BIOS set as optimized default, reboot then setup the BIOS as you like.

Not just another Dell, another PC or tablet, know what you meant though. Kind of hard since no way to access the PC. How many USB ports, did try them all front or back ? Have a Windows 7 disc by any chance or recovery discs ? Windows 7 was preinstalled ?

Yes I did. This is another piece of info. Turning on the computer I can access the bios and keyboard and mouse work fine then I exit it and when windows start is when pretty much nothing works. Obviously is a hardware miss configuration so I believe that the only way to fix it is moving the hard drive to another system but then what do i do. How to access or modify device manager or anything that can solve my problem? Thanks all of you
