  1. No administrative access on my personal laptop, folders going read only, cannot change back...

I have a Windows 11 laptop. When I download my digital camera, the folder I create will suddenly go to "read-only", and then the Photos program will not load all the photos in the directory to view. When I try to change the access control to the folders, my computer says I'm not logged in as an administrator, and the administrator is my Microsoft account, which is logged in. This is absolutely infuriating, and is making me completely frustrated and miserable. How do I fix this, and keep it from happening again?

    :)

  2. Cant change the folder from read only

    Hello Kat,

We regret for the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

Before proceeding any further, let us know a few more details on the below questions.

    • Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
    • What are the relevant error messages when you say 'it wont let me'?

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to following steps and check if it helps:

To take ownership of a file or folder, follow these steps:

    • Press and hold the folder that you want to take ownership of, then tap
      Properties
. (If you are using a mouse, right-click the folder, and then click
      Properties.)
    • Tap or click the Security tab, tap or click Advanced, then tap or click
Change. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • Type the name of the person that you want to give ownership to, and then click
      Check Names.
Note The account name for the person that you are assigning ownership to is displayed.
    • Click OK.
    • If you want this person to be the owner of the files and subfolders that are contained in this folder, select the
Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.
    • Click OK.

No administrative access on my personal laptop, folders going read only, cannot change back...

LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied.

I am trying to share a folder on a LAPTOP. I have other a number of other systems that have folders Shared and they work fine, but with this one I get the error "LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied." when I try to access it from a different Win10 system. So I went thru the entire "How to Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10" tutorial step by step. File and Print Sharing is enabled, SMB1.0 client & server are running, and Everyone has Full Access to the Share. Still get the error. I have tried it with the Network Public and Private, with the same result. Any suggestions ?
