    No audio after upgrade from 8.1 to 10 using HDMI cable


    Per the title, I run my computer through my TV using an HDMI cable. Sound works brilliantly on Windows 8.1 but after upgrading to Windows 10, I'm left without audio, and in the sound settings it doesn't show HDMI as an available device.

    Ideas?

    Windows 10 HDMI Audio not working.

    HDMI Audio not working following my upgrade from 8.1 to 10? I read another's case where this occured after the upgrade from 8 to 8.1. They reinstalled the Video Driver and it resolved the issue. Could this be the case for me?

    Windows recovery

    Used PC reset in Windows 10 Recovery; after reset Sound for HDMI stopped working. Under Sound in Control Panel says HDMI cable disconnected. Cable is still plugged in as before, HDMI video is working fine, no HDMI audio. Device Manager says device is working.
    Why do I not have HDMI audio now?

    Seems like the issue was Windows 10 doesn't include the latest drivers for NVidia and you have to manually update them

    You'd probably get some drivers through Windows Update, but downloading them from Visual Computing Leadership from NVIDIA is the best.

    I always use the "custom" install to avoid having all the 3d stuff installed. My monitor doesn't support 3d, and I have no LCD shutter glasses.
