  1. No audio (nor Windows Audio service) after updating to W10 v1809

After updating to the latest W10 release my audio stopped working.

Out of the motherboard audio output I get absolutely nothing:

    • no light (and no audio) from the optical
    • crackings and buzzings from the back 3.5
    • nothing at all from the front 3.5

If I plug and unplug the cables, the system recognizes it and switches to the proper driver/device. But no sound come out of it.

I'm running Realtek High Definition Audio drivers, up to the v. 6.0.1.8447 and my default output is running Realtek Digital Output v. 10.0.17134.1

The active audio device in Control Panel>Sounds>Playback are correct and my main speaker is recognized and set to default. The graphic next goes up and down, meaning that the system is trying to make some sounds.

I noticed that the "Windows Audio" service is missing from the Services List, BUT "Audiosrv" is listed in the registry (not sure if the values are correct though).

HOWEVER, if I plug my living room to my PC via the audio+video HDMI out of my graphic card... no problem... I can hear sounds clearly.

Obviously, Windows Audio Troubleshooter was of no help: it keeps asking me "lets try if you can hear the sounds using this drivers. No? Well, lets try if you can hear the sounds using this drivers..." and it goes on and on until it gets defeated by a sad "Can't find any solution for your problem". I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers a half dozen times.

I can't understand if it's a hardware problem (that will explain why sounds can come out of the graphic card) or a software/drivers problem (that will explain why it appeared right after the update).

    Thanks to all.

  3. audio services not responding

Thanks for the feedback. Let's ensure that your audio services are enabled and running. Please follow these steps:

    • In the Cortana search, type in Services.
    • Click Services (Desktop app) in the search results.
    • Under Services (Local), look for the following:
    • Plug and Play
    • Windows Audio
    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    4. Right-click Plug and Play and click Properties.

    5. Set the Startup type to Automatic, and Service status should be
Running. If it's not running, click on Start > Apply > OK.

    6. Do the same with the Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.

    7. Restart the PC to apply the changes.

    Update us with the result.

    Regards.
