Windows 10: No Audio; Nothing in Volume Mixer; Failed to play test tone

I have no idea what the problem is.


Everything was fine a couple days ago. I was on discord and all of a sudden my audio was playing through discord so everyone was able to hear. My mic stopped working. So I restarted my computer forgetting that there was an update loaded. The update loaded to 30% then I got a black screen and then I was able to normally use my computer. Then all of a sudden, no volume. No applications show up in the volume mixer for any of my devices, even system sounds. I updated the drivers, disabled, uninstalled and reinstalled, and still nothing. I uninstalled the update making me go back to windows 10 1903. Nothing changed still same issue. Decided to completely update to 1909. Still nothing.


Did sfc /scannow and dism and still nothing. Sfc scan would say corrupt files were found and successfully restored. Dism would say no component store corruption detected. Still no audio fix.


Reverted back to an older update. Still same issue. Searched up every viable option and no positive result. Anyone know what to do, or someone I could contact to help because there is no audio coming from any of my playback devices.

Fail to play test tone on any audio device.

My computer is a windows 10 alienware laptop that has failed to play a test tone with my speakers, tv or bluetooth headphones. I believe my bluetooth headphones were connected when I walked out of range and disconnected which started the issue. I have tried
the following things to try and fix it.

Disabling and enabling the audio speakers

• Updating the drivers
• Uninstalling the drivers and restarting so that it automatically puts in the audio driver
• Restarting the Windows Audio Services
  
  sfc scannow to repair corrupted files
  
  Change the sample rate of the audio
  
  Disable audio enhancements
• Enable applications to take exclusive control of the device.
• Disable applications to take exclusive control of the device.
• I checked and no updates have been installed since it was working.
  
  Install High Definition Audio Device
• Run the troubleshooter
• Set audio speakers as the Default
• Try other speaker options such as BT headphones and a TV through HDMI
• Change local and user group settings

Any help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Volume Mixer not showing muted app

The application was muted on Windows 10 with November update. Now I am using Anniversary update, on build 14393.10

The initial step did not help make Banished show up in the Volume Mixer, nor did the article.
