Windows 10: No audio on laptop after update

Last week I installed updates which included Intel and HP driver updates, which I assume are the problematic ones. Afterwards there were no audio drivers detected - the message was "no audio output device installed" - but this was remedied by doing a system restore. Yesterday, without asking me, these updates were again installed and the same problem resulted. However the system restore point appears to be after the installation and no other points were offered and so I now have no audio drivers. How do I get audio back on my laptop? And how do I stop these updates being installed yet again

No Sound/Audio in Dell Laptop

Hello Guys,

I have a relatively new laptop (7 months old) I did a windows update today and after that laptop audio says no audio hardware found. There is X symbol on audio in notification tray. I did the usual uninstall reinstall etc no use. I go to device manager and I don't see the sound tab to expand. Under system devices, there is a error for Intel Audio system Bus. when I right click sound and click playback, I don't see any devices listed either.

What would be my next troubleshooting step, please help

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

• What is the complete error message of this issue?
• When are you facing this issue with the drivers?
• Have you installed all the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website for current operating system?

I suggest you to uninstall the existing Audio drivers, download the latest drivers for your device and check if it helps.

Step 1: Uninstall the Audio driver.

Steps:

• Press Windows + X keys from the keyboard, click on Device Manager.
• Expand Audio inputs and outputs, right click on the driver and click on
  Uninstall.

Step 2: I suggest you to manually install the latest audio drivers and check.

Select the driver and operating system to download.
