Windows 10: No Audio on Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041

I updated my laptop this morning and my sound doesn't work anymore. My Realtek Audio Driver is updated, i think the OS is the problem. How to fix this?

Intel Celeron

Can "Get Windows 10 App" install over Windows 10 Technical Preview?

Hello,

I currently have Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041 installed as my OS. I have requested to upgrade to Windows 10 upon its release, but do not have the Windows icon to start the "Get Windows 10 App".

Do I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to receive the "Get Windows 10 App"? Also just curious what can be done if the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041 isn't allowing me to revert back to my Windows 8.1 as it states it doesn't have the files necessary
to revert back?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it does, since build 10041 actually:

Enhancements to the Photos app: The updated Live Tile for the Photos app will now include your photos on OneDrive in the recent photo rotation where previously you would only see local photos. We’ve made lots of performance and reliability
improvements across the entire app. You will see added support for RAW format files, which should be up to date with new major cameras. If you find a RAW file that doesn’t show up correctly in the Photos app

You said you updated the driver, was this from you manufacturers/model site? I have a colleague that fixed his problem when the windows 8 version didn't work on a whim he tried the windows 7 version and it then worked.

Here is the site for ASUS X551CA try downloading the windows 7(64 bit) driver for realtek.

Ok it didn't work for you. And if I understand you correctly; you have tried the Windows 8 version from this site? I personally had no sound problems with the default driver(from clean install) or after I installed the RealTek drivers for my ASUS X54C from ASUS.

 

I've got version 6.0.1.6710 installed and working:

 

Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 8.1 X64... same error... if there's no solution maybe i will go back to windows 8.1 T_T

 

You could try downloading the iso and clean installing... Download Windows 10 Technical Preview
Just down load the ISO and use 7Zip and extract it to a USB stick and boot to it(it should boot to UEFI if you one time boot to UEFI USB)

 

Already did that last month when I'm Upgrading my Laptop to Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041 from Windows 8.1 *Biggrin Maybe i should go back to windows 8.1 because it's faster than this OS. Ty for answers *Smile

 

You're welcome. There are a few threads here with people with the same problem & even more in the Windows Community Forums. Some of the workarounds don't work for everyone. I'm just glad I have a desktop (Windows 8.1 which I love) and my laptop for testing purposes.
