  1. No Audio Output Device Installed - Device Manager Lists "High Definition Audio Controller"...

    Hello all,

    I am currently running Windows 10 on an MSI GS63 Stealth GS63 Stealth 8RE 64-bit machine. Today I restarted my computer after having installed some unrelated software Bluejeans when suddenly I noticed I could no longer select my normal computer audio as an option on the sound icon. Indeed, the only option was an inactive device, my Oculus Rift. In my attempts to diagnose the problem, I uninstalled all devices related to the Rift from Device Manager.

    For the past 8 hours, my computer has been in this state: there is a red "x" that appears next to the sound icon due to the message "No Audio Output Device is installed". Indeed, the device list reflects this from normal windows settings and control panel.

    In Device Manager, a "High Definition Audio Controller" is listed with a yellow error triangle symbol: under device status, it displays the following:

    This device cannot start. Code 10

    {Operation Failed}

    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    And under Events, the following description is given after each time I restart my PC for the event "Device not started HDAudBus":

    Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A348&SUBSYS_12101462&REV_10\3&11583659&1&FB had a problem starting.

    Driver Name: hdaudbus.inf

    Class Guid: {4d36e97d-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}

    Service: HDAudBus

    Lower Filters:

    Upper Filters:

    Problem: 0xA

    Problem Status: 0xC0000001

    I have tried many things to reconcile this issue. I have the latest version of Windows, having performed all of the latest updates last night. As previously stated, I have tried to uninstall many of the associated device drivers in hopes that Windows would re-install them when I restart. Whenever I uninstall the "High Definition Audio Controller" device, it simply reappears when I reboot. I have tried a solution that involves removing the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values from a particular part of the Registry Editor. I have downloaded the latest audio driver from MSI and installed it. None of this has seemed to have had any effect on the current situation. Since I would prefer not to have to do a factory reset and it is imperative that I soon have audio and microphone capability both have been disabled by this issue, how can I fix this issue? I am willing to provide more information if needed.

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

    No audio output device

    Hello!
    I have a common problem: my Windows 10 has No Audio Output Device.
    System configuration:
    • Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBN (laptop)
    • Windows 10 Pro, version 1909, build 18363.535;
    • Current updates;
    Device manager shows these audio devices:
    • High Definition Audio Device (driver version 10.0.18362.356)
    • Intel Display Audio (10.27.0.6)
    • ASUS Xonar U3 (10.0.8.2164)
    i.e. the problem persists even with an external (USB) audio device, recognized by the system.

    I performed a sanity check on this issue. Sound works when I boot into Ubuntu live. Therefore, it is not a hardware problem, and is indeed a Windows problem.

    Solutions that have not worked so far:
    1. Audio troubleshooter (issues found: check audio device, nothing else)
    2. Rolling back drivers
    3. Uninstalling audio devices
    4. Uninstalling any audio-related devices, incl. the likes of bluetooth speakers
    5. Updating audio drivers (from both built-in drivers and from manufacturer's site)
    6. Installing a generic audio device (installing a generic USB audio device does not succeed, and installing a generic Realtek device resulted in a BSOD)

    Do you have any ideas for fixing this?

    No audio, 'No Audio Output Device Is Installed', have already updated BIOS and chipset and drivers, Windows 10

    Please, any more suggestions? I'm thinking that there is a way to fix this.

    And when I updated the driver for 'High Definition Audio Codecs', Device Manager switched it to 'Realtek High Definition Audio', even though that was already listed under 'Sound, Video, and Game Controllers' (so now 'Realtek High Definition Audio' is listed
    twice under r 'Sound, Video, and Game Controllers'.

    Device Manager also allowed me to install 'Intel WiDi Audio Device', but it still makes no sound at all.

    And under 'System Devices', my computer tells me that the driver for 'High Definition Audio Controller' is up to date, but it still has a yellow bang mark next to it (nothing I do seems to ever change that - any suggestsions?)

  4. No Audio Output Device Installed - Device Manager Lists "High Definition Audio Controller"...

    HD Audio controller cannot start code 10, No audio output device is installed, No sound controllers in device manager.

    I have an Acer Aspire E1-531 running Windows 10 anniversary update. I used the free update option, and updated from Windows 7. The problem is I get no sound whatsoever, and in device manager, under system devices, the high definition audio controller has
    a yellow exclamation mark and code 10. There is no sound, game, and video controller tab in the device manager. On the taskbar, there is a red x on the speaker symbol, saying that no output device is installed. Opening the sound menu, there are no playback
    or recording devices, even with show disabled and disconnected. The problem started before I had updated, after a battery repair. I've tried uninstalling the high definition audio controller, but after I refresh it just comes back. I've tried uninstalling
    and reinstalling drivers, and other suggestions I've found in Microsoft answers but nothing has worked yet.

    I can get a sound, video, and game controller menu in device manager if I use add legacy hardware, and select Realtek high definition audio device. But then the Realtek high definition audio device also gives a "This device cannot start" (Code 10) Request
    not supported.
