Windows 10: No Biometrics! Windows Hello Face & Fingerprint both say the options are "unavailable"!

I have lost my biometrics. Using Windows Hello, both face & fingerprint give error messages "options are not currently available" and "We couldn't find a camera/fingerprint reader compatible with Windows Hello"! My Device Manager also has no Biometric file! I've rebooted and updated Windows & Drives numerous times to no avail! I'm running Windows 10 Home, ver. 22H2, in 64-bit. HELP!!!P.S.I would love to upgrade to Windows 11, but my system won't allow it! I also do not have any other computers available to make a bootable thumb drive copy.

Windows Hello Face/Fingerprint

The Windows Hello Face/Fingerprint feature was working on my HP Envy and now it is not working and it says that my laptop camera/fingerprint scanner is not compatible, when it was working less than 12 hours ago. When I look into how to reconnect or find
Window Hello Fingerprint/Face biometrics the only help I get is to the Windows 10 sign-in options.
I need to know how and were to find the Windows Hello Face/fingerprint biometrics management settings that is not in the sign-in options, but is how to re-download it or check it's compatibility status with my laptop.

 

Windows Hello Face, Fingerprint, PIN sign-in options unavailable

I have a brand new Dell XPS 1330/9300 with Win 10 Pro 1909 with myself setup as the only admin account. The sign-in options for Windows Hello Face, Fingerprint, and PIN are greyed out with a message saying "This option is currently unavailable - click to
learn more". I enabled biometrics in the GP editor and made sure all software and drivers are updated but this still does not fix the issue. Oddly, I added a 2nd user admin account and that account allows for these options (and later deleted it). Dell was
of no help and could not reach Windows support.

Anyone have any solutions?

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you are unable to use Windows Hello Face and PIN on your computer. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?
  

• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer
  Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
  

You may want to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned below and see if that helps:



Reset Windows Hello Biometric Database:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open Run dialog box.
   
2. Type services.msc and click on OK.
   
3. Look for Windows Biometric Service, double click on it and click on Stop.
   
4. Now, go to C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase, take a backup of all the files inside the WinBioDatabase folder.
   
5. After taking a backup of the files, delete all the files.
   
6. Now, open Services by following step 1 and 2, and restart the Windows Biometric Service.
   
7. Go to Start >> Settings >> Accounts >> Sign-in options and register the Face data again.
